The sound of the harp creates an elegant atmosphere, ensuring a memorable experience for your wedding or special event. I have had the privilege of performing for hundreds of wedding and events, and have a wide range of repertoire including classical, baroque, renaissance, opera, musical theatre, pop and jazz standards.
In 2009, I accepted the position as harpist at the famous Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, where I performed as a soloist during Tea Time and Demitasse every day. I completed my Bachelor of Music at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and Master of Music at the University of Illinois, both on scholarship.
About
Lisa Marie Kahn is a freelance harpist residing in the Chicago area, where she is pursuing a Performance Diploma at Roosevelt University with Sarah Bullen, principal harpist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Lisa is also the associate principal harpist with Tulsa Symphony Orchestra and principal harpist of the Danville Symphony Orchestra.
In the spring of 2009, she accepted the position of Harpist at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan, where she performed at least twice daily as a soloist prior to moving to Illinois. She earned her Master of Music with at the University of Illinois School of Music in May of 2011, where she received a full scholarship. In January of 2011, she was a prize winner at the Harp Days! Competition held at Michigan State University and competed in the Lyon and Healy awards competition in June, 2011 in Denton, Texas.
She began studying harp at the age of 12 with Patricia Masri-Fletcher, principal harpist of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Prior to college, she spent two summers studying and performing at Interlochen Arts Camp and performed as principal harpist with several youth orchestras, including the Detroit Civic Sinfonia Symphony Orchestra and the Dearborn Youth Symphony. She was selected to perform as the principal harpist at the Michigan Youth Arts Festival in 2004, where she played under the direction of conductor Thomas Wilkins. She continued her studies with Gillian Benet Sella, principal harpist of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in 2005, on scholarship.
Lisa has played countless weddings, parties, and other special events and is very experienced as a soloist. She performs a wide variety of classical, baroque, renaissance, opera, musical theatre, pop and jazz standards. If you are interested in studying with Lisa, she offers private instruction on the harp out of her home or you can study with her through The Music Shoppe Lesson Studio, located in Champaign, Illinois.
