The Emcee for House Studio DC, a youth worker who creates constructive HipHop as an alternative to the corrupting music that majority of the world is force fed daily. Completely curse free and 100% authentic, the music is incredibly relevant without forcing my beliefs upon listeners OR ever glorifying negative aspects of life. The music accompanying my lyrics range from classic drum loops to incredibly composed jazz symphonies. As a result I have fans of all ages who gravitate to and can relate to the sound that I provide. My past allows me to speak on many diverse subjects at assemblies, I use my experiences to inspire others. Many youth feel you MUST be negative to succeed. I disagree.

At an event I like to give the audience a brisk sample of my catalog, accentuating a few key ideas here and there as we go along. To help you understand the difference between a "rapper" and an "Emcee" a variety of unique songs are performed, all clean and mind stimulating. Wordplay is displayed along with breath control, varied cadence of voice. I always touch on my past just a tad, but the focus is set primarily on the future. Those who attend events should expect good music, a bright performer who genuinely cares for his listeners and lyrics that leave you with something to consider.
Emcee, songwriter, youth worker, poet, skateboarder, an all around genuine spirit. Javier Starks fuses clean lyrics with varied vocal melodies to create his unique flow. From intricate double or sometimes even triple entendres, to subtle poems, his range is truly boundless. Though often compared to musicians from HipHop’s “Golden Era”, Javier finds inspiration in every genre of music. As a result his works have found homes in the hearts of many, age is never an issue.
Given a chance to reach Baltimore and DC youth in 2005, Javier made a decision to that he’d be the role model that MOST were seeking. Currently he works closely with an extremely talented production team at House Studio DC. His latest project “Faces Of Change” has brought together some of the brightest “acts” in his area.
Now aligned with others who share a similar vision, it’s hard to believe such a talent would fall short. Driven, humble and a true student of his craft, we expect many great things from Javier in the days to come!

At a minimum i will require a device that plays discs/mp3. This set can be altered and performed "a capella" upon request but i feel the songs lose an essential element without the accompanying music. The size of the stage does not matter. 10 feet or 100 feet, i will cover it gracefully. All I need is a microphone, a monitor(speaker to gauge personal sound level), a device that plays my sound files and an audience.
"Wasted" - This is normally my introductory song, a fun in the sun, day at the beach, love is all you need type song. The chorus plays, I recite and verse, the chorus plays, I move forward.
Wasted is a song written from the perspective a hopeless romantic recounting the moments of love he experienced with she who had his heart. Wasted off love.
"Stronger" - My second song, a true introduction to Javier Starks. My mentality, my outlook, my purpose in one song. I wear 4 LiveStrong wristbands not because i lost loved ones to Cancer, but because that phrase is my life personified.
In Stronger I speak on my past experiences, the experiences that made the current Javier. Sure, it's impossible to cover every life event in 3 minutes lol but I plan to share a few with you in hopes that you'll overcome trials you are currently facing.
"NOW" - The Third song in my current set. I recite verse from a very moving song addressing my moment of truth. The fact that i believe my time to shine is NOW. Carpe Diem.
"Dont Be Afraid" - You must take chances in life. Most of the people from areas i grew up in have a side hustle of some sort beyond their typical 9-5 job. Some get caught up in illegal activities, others find legitimate yet lucrative options. Regardless, you must take a chance to reach your dreams.
"The Prelude" - True lyricism. The prelude is a testament to life in the district while exhibiting lyrical prowess. The fantasy of overcoming street life and reigning as a mogul... You have to be on top of your game, master your craft. Im doing just that.
"Remember The Name" - Joined by the Grammy nominated vocalist Maimouna Youssef i look back on my past. From the excessive partying to the times where i was homeless, to when i first began writing... Plenty doubts, plenty naysayers. Im still here. Im still growing. I'm succeeding!
"iGrind" - Everybody has a means of surviving in this world. For most is a steady job. Some seek further education to help secure a greater position. Well "iGrind" is discussing that phenomenon directly. For those who plan to go beyond "the NORM" you must grind!

My mother listens to an incredibly broad spectrum of music. I love everything from Kurtis Blow to Queen. From Led Zeppelin to Lauryn Hill. Of course emcees are responsible primarily for the style of vocal delivery. Emcees such as: Rakim, KRSOne, Pharoahe Monch, Mos Def, Substantial. Still, my music is heavily influenced by Rhythm & Blues. Vocalists such as: Amy Winehouse, Lauryn Hill, Etta James, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Carolyn Malachi and more. They have influenced the process i follow when selecting my instrumentation. I listen to almost every genre but im "Inspired" moreso by day to day events.
