About
Immersed in music in her native Argentina, Fabiana Katz moved to Canada at the age of 14. She earned a bachelor degree at the University of Calgary and a Masters of Music from College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati.
Critics have used words like “chocolate” and “caramel” and "maple syrup" ;^) to describe the richness and shimmering quality of Fabiana’s voice, but she has also acquired a range and an edgy and dramatic vocal timbre that make her performances both intimate and powerful.
She has appeared as a soloist with the National Arts Centre Orchestra, the Pacific Baroque Orchestra, the Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Orchestra, the Prince George Symphony Orchestra, the CBC Radio Orchestra, and the New Westminster Symphony Orchestra, among others. She is also a professional singer with the Vancouver Chamber Choir and founding member of the a-cappella trio Kallisto, which has received accolades around Canada.
What to Expect
Typical Gig Duration: 20 - 120 minutes
Although Fabiana has appeared with large orchestras and choirs, it is her candor, openness, and commitment to expression which allows her to create the close and intimate performance you might expect from a friend singing in your own living room.
Whatever your musical preference, Fabiana is equally at home singing opera arias, smaller art songs, jazz standards, musical theatre, cabaret, ethnic and folk genres, accompanied by piano, guitar or small instrumental ensemble. She will put together a program to suit your particular needs with the music you and your guests would love to hear.
