Alafia!!! We are Egbe Kilimanjaro African-Caribbean Drum & Dance. We specialize in performing traditional & neo-traditional rhythms and dances of Africa, The Caribbean and the United States. We play congas, djembe, bongos, Jun Jun, talking drums, cajon, cowbell, shekere, and many other types of percussion. We also provide classes and school residencies upon request. We believe that everyone deserves to experience the energy and excitement of our ancestors through audience participation. "We love to perform for you, but we would much rather perform with you!!!" About
Egbe Kilimanjaro has performed in schools, churches, festivals and historic celebrations throughout the state including: Francis Marion College, Clemson University, Coastal Carolina University, The College of Charleston, M,U,S,C, The University of South Carolina, Horry-Georgetown and Voorhees Technical Colleges, Piccolo-Spoleto, Moja Festival, Harborwalk, Bayfest, Spartanburg's International Festival, Brookgreen Gardens, Barefoot Landing, Cypress Gardens, Charlestowne Landing, Burroughs and Chapin Art Museum, Burroughs and Chapin Library, Litchfield Beach Golf and Resort, The King Street Palace, Mynskyn's Tavern, Charleston's Custom House and Oyotunji Village. Leon is father to Kilimanjaro drummers Hassan, Sa'ud, Pianki and Jabari; founder of Ayida Wedo Drummers' Society and is on the Roster of the South Carolina Arts Commission. Mother, Falola is the Principal Dancer and also portrays "Geechie Grandma" Kilimanjaro has opened up for Reggae groups Burning Spear, Ital, Sister Carol, Lucky Dubai. Gregory Isaacs and Awareness Art Ensemble, to name a few.
