Hi! I'm DebbieJayne and am a CEO, head honcho, spunky little Firecracker, photographer and a student of life. I have been asked for more and through innovativeness and community, FOCUSOGRAPHY™ has emerged. FOCUSOGRAPHY™ is a fully developed idea of focusing on Local Austin music and art through photography and multimedia. It's about sharing the experiences of motivation and inspiration by Austin for Austin.
My health ultimately became the driving force towards choosing a path of an entrepreneur. However my passion was ignited with a camera. Honestly, I figured with my health issues and all the hassles I was already going through, that somehow, working for myself Had to be better than not keeping steady employment and not being able to put my health first. Being an entrepreneur enabled me to double dip.
I started out in the retail industry when I was 16 years old. I’ve always worked hard and back then I held three part-time jobs while attending school half-day as a senior in High School. I also volunteered as a Sunday school teacher on the weekends. An all-around great kid who was the first member of the family to apply and attend college. I went on to attend Southwest Texas University, now known as Texas State University.
During my three years studying Psychology, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia (as well as ADHD, Anxiety, and Depression). Then my love life took me for a ride. Like so many others, after this particular break up, I broke down. I was having trouble juggling school, work, health and heart.
I went from someone with the world in her hands and hopes for becoming a child psychologist to this person who couldn’t stop her thoughts from taking over and couldn’t manage to hold my emotions in. I no longer had control of my emotions and could no longer function. I was scared to death.
I was unable to work. I couldn’t leave my apartment. I didn’t want to turn on the lights. I didn’t want to be awake. And at times it was harder than that. Life was grabbing me by the ankles and not allowing me to be free.
After years of medication and doctors doing more processes of elimination versus anything else, I just started keeping notes of things that made me smile and made me happy. I started taking photos of beautiful art, nature and peoples smiles.
I did struggle with life thereafter. I had many bouts of depression that have hit me hard. Because I continued going down bad paths and making wrong choices. I eventually found my own personal rock bottom. I had nowhere else to go but up. Six feet under was no longer an option that I was to ever contemplate, again.
So, January 2012, I decided that I would set a resolution for my life and not just for the year. I vowed to determine where in fact, my potential can truly take me. I had given up on myself far too early and after completely letting go who I was and what I possessed; I choose to defy my depression. It’s an everyday reminder of altering my habits for the benefit of a smile.
My life is my own responsibility if I want to share who I am. But, sharing motivation and inspiration should be contagious. So, I take with me my love for networking and meeting new friends everywhere. I’m now known for capturing photos that exude REAL emotion. But, I am especially great at connecting people. I connect them to great ideas, plans of action, other people and even connect them to their own hearts.
So, FOCUSOGRAPHY™ was born from these ashes. On our way towards becoming a valuable resource for those seeking advice or information, we will be a platform for artists and musicians to receive just praise through stories, articles and photos of inspirational and motivation. After all, what kind of people would we be without the reminders of humanity?
