About
“Some of the most exquisite music coming out ofAfrica today. Sublime and peaceful.” – Zina Saro-Wiwa, BBC Presenter
Kinobe and his acoustic band, The African Sensation, share the traditional sounds of Uganda and the African continent, performing on a wide variety of traditional acoustic instruments. These artists are the new vanguard of Ugandan performers representing the inspired synthesis of African roots and global fusion. Here's what a recent presenter had to say:
"This was the real deal! …Kinobe was as gracious off stage as on, no ego, no high maintenance. He was a consummate professional …and what a show! The audience was mesmerized, and dancing their collective booties off. The musicianship was the highest caliber and the band played tighter than two sizes too small pantyhose. To say the band was a hit at the Islands Folk Festival is an understatement, they ended up being the top selling CD artist for the entire Festival".
- Robert McCourty,Artistic Director, Cowichan Folk Guild, Islands Folk Festival
Driving polyrhythms underlay transcendent melodies; traditional African instruments – koras, kalimbas, adungus, endongos, ngonis, balaphon and drums– come together to prove, once again, that music is the most beautiful, universal language. Kinobe and his band are committed to bringing love and joy to people around the world, using music as a voice to create peace and to champion a better future for children everywhere.
"One Longfellow Square was very pleased to present Kinobe in our venue. Their genuine warmth with the crowd, impressive musicality and overall enthusiasm created a truly enjoyable and memorable evening for our audiences. The accolades are still arriving and we look forward to bringing this engaging group back."
- Tom Rota, One Longfellow Square, Portland ME
"AWESOME! One of the most memorable shows we've had." - Mark Mangold, The Nightcat
