We hired Carlos to be the entertainment at our church's Oktoberfest event last weekend. He was AWESOME! He played his first song and got a vibe for the crown and catered the rest of the selections to our group. There was serious dancing going on by the time he was done!! We had our meal prior to him starting and invited him to join us. We were all so impressed that he didn't just get a plate and go sit by his equipment and eat. He joined our congregation and sit with us and ate, which was such a cool thing!!! My husband and I plan to have a summer backyard party next year and are already planning to book Carlos because we were so impressed!!!
Incredible value for the money. Carlos has a beautiful voice and was just so fun to have!! He arrived plenty early and set up efficiently. Very professional! Can't recommend him highly enough!

We hired Carlos for our company holiday Christmas party. We couldn't have been more pleased! He was very professional! About
As a self taught musician, Carlos brings a widely diverse set of influences that range from Country, Latin, Rock, Motown, Bossa Nova and even Bluegrass to the Grand Rapids Live Music scene and beyond. There are many descriptions for what Carlos does; singing guitarist, singer/songwriter, performing vocalist, one man band, wedding singer, and guitarist to name a few.
When asked about his method to set lists, he said, "I like to keep the sets interesting and make it a point to play various types of music based on song type instead of what is just popular." Over and over again, the feedback from live music events and hosts is that he plays such a variety and brings new life to the typical guitar/vox live music routine.
Depending on the event, he will take the music up and down, groove to rock with enthusiasm and contagious charisma using his smooth voice and impressive range with occasional flamenco styling to give your guests something to bob their heads in between conversations. Imagine hearing, "Heard it through the grape vine" with wild rhythmic strumming, on the spot timing and vocal chops reminiscent of Jason Mraz and the scene is almost set for the best live entertainment you've heard in a while.
If you ask him, he says he gets the "Chispa" from his musically talented mother, Ligia. This is different from "Chutzpa" being that Carlos is far from rockstar ego and that it's Spanish for "spark". "Singing and playing came naturally to me which is a good vehicle for my passion and empathetic personality" says the guys who regularly will sing happy birthday when he finds out if a guest is celebrating a birthday.
Along with being a skilled singer, he is also a talented song writer with big Nashville ambitions. He is one to watch in the cluttered scene of live music singer/songwriter crowd.
What to expect when hiring Carlos-
After initial contact with host or coordinator a performance contract will be sent with all details and information about responsibilities for both the artist and "employer".
Weddings- (Grand Rapids wedding singer, Holland wedding guitarist, Kalamazoo weddings)
Some events like weddings will require specific request such as a specific song selection and wardrobe guidelines. Each contract will be unique to event and will provide these options and others for Employer to communicate to artist prior to event. Artist will perform unique songs or requests for a wedding at additional cost depending on song requested. Contact Carlos for more information.
Parties- (House party, birthday party, anniversaries, home coming, Grand Rapids corporate parties, Devos Place events
Being informal as they usually are, the contract will come standard with setup times, performance times, breaks and other basic information.
So, you want a band- (Cover bands, classic rock cover band, Grand Rapids live music, live restaurant music, Grand Rapids festivals)
Carlos also sings lead and plays guitar with the River City Stew, which is available for hire as a three piece (drums, bass, guitar) or as a full band (drums, bass, two guitarists, saxophone). They provide all sound equipment for most small to large events. Prices vary depending on clients request, so make sure to email for prices and availability.
Payment-
Generally a 50% deposit is required to book artist for a performance while the other half will be due after the performance is completed and Employer is satisfied with the artist's job on the mic. Payments can be made out to artist with CASH, PAYPAL or CHECK.
Lodging- Depending on location and time of event lodging may be included in total fee for employer. Please contact for more details.
Equipment- Indoor events and parties with up to 70 guests do not need additional equipment to supply sufficient sound for event. Outdoor events with More than 70 need to consider additional equipment set up for live music event. Additional equipment fees apply if needed.

Influences
James Taylor, Jack Johnson, Gypsy Kings, Al green. One of his greatest strengths is adapting his voice to the style of the song. If it's Motown, JT or Steve Miller Band, Carlos changes his style just enough to catch the feeling of the melody and words without sacrificing his own passion and interpretation of the song.

Typical Gig Duration: 120 - 240 minutes
The set lists can vary depending on the spot and audience. Song covers include crowd favorites that get everyone singing and other songs are focused more on the lyrics and story.

Additional Notes:
All equipment for a small to medium sized room with 60-80 people is provided. Only requirement is a close outlet for power. Outdoor events with 80 people require more sound equipment. Additional equipment rental fees apply with larger events- $60 per 400 watt speaker/with stand. For example if you have a outdoor wedding ceremony of 120 people, two additional speakers will do the job. Please note that events where multiple locations are needed will require additional setup fee of $35 per extra location. For example, the wedding requires artist to perform at ceremony and then at the reception. There would be only one additional setup fee. The first location is given as part of the performance fees and do not require any extra fees.
(usually the musical entertainment is meant to be background music and not the main event. With this in mind the standard equipment will do the job for a crowd of 80-100 at the most. If event is outdoors with 100 people spread out over the location, additional speakers are recommended)
