Based in South Hampton Roads, Virginia, Serenity Tribal dance troupe performs in American Tribal Style belly dance, a dance style that fuses traditional steps and movements from cultures across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Western Europe.
ATS uses "structured improvisation" - the dancers use small nonverbal cues to tell each other what they're going to do next. It does not use choreography (except on rare and specific occasions). The beauty of ATS is in the synchronization of the dancers and the elegant and powerful movement vocabulary.
Serenity Tribal brings to their performance the light-hearted earthiness characteristic of ATS belly dance, moving you with cheerful rhythms and a rich tradition, and offering classes that are as eclectic and fun as you are.
