An American born rapper who has amassed a catalog of almost 300 plus songs…and he’s not even 21 yet. The future of hip-hop is a prodigal mass of talent called Young G.
Born Eyan Jordan Gastelum on April 28, 1993, the youngest of five, to Mexican-American parents. It has been both the saddest tragedies and the clearest of passions that have motivated G to the launch pad he now stands positioned on.
While just entering his teenage years, G started rhyming at age 13. Christmas of that year, a gift he received was a Karaoke machine. He utilized it to the fullest, suspending the mic from the ceiling fan and knocking out song after song in one single take. Two years later he was mastering Protools and engineering his own tracks. By 16 he was producing his own records, but it was the year before while still 15 that proved to be pivotal; the death of his two older brothers stung deeply and shook his resolve and then the close personal call of a hot bullet passing through his back, barely an inch from his spine at 19 redefined and cemented G’s purpose for making music.
He stayed in the studio recording song after song, but above that, what he was really doing and continues to do to this very day is shape and brand the very creative and rare original sound that is hip-hop from the Southwest, from Tucson, Arizona; a sound that is Young G.
He established Lavish Livin’ Entertainment in 2006 and his buzz began to swell in the local and regional press. A regular on the stages of Arizona and other venues from Texas, Nevada to California, Young G has opened up & shared the stage and mic with a array of major recording hip-hop artists from Bone Thugs N Harmony, Cam’ Ron and Fat Joe to Young Dro, Gorilla Zoe and DJ Quik to name a few.
In October 2010 while recording at Odds Recording Studios in Las Vegas he met Larry Wicks, CEO of America’s Next Big Hit along with legendary Rocafella Records artist Freeway. The relationship was a natural and a steady flow of invitations to shows and events followed as the three of them have stayed in touch since crossing paths that Fall day in Las Vegas. It was Wicks who took an especially intense liking to G and would later prove to be vital in the introductions of his current mentors.
With Young G’s precise drive and creative acumen, along with his career guided and mentored by two of the industry’s sharpest, Bad Boy Entertainment’s legendary Jay Black and the label president Harve Pierre, expansion within the market and triumph of the larger world stage is an accepted given and something everyone should take a front row seat for.
