Augusta, Gee-Ay born and raised Yorrelle’s powerful voice is at times angelically sweet and then changes to powerfully magnetic; you can hear the highs and lows that permeates and reaches every part of your being. Yorrelle herself remembers singing all throughout the house as a kid, annoying her brother and it being a part of her life. She remembers singing being her friend when she was alone and didn’t have anyone to talk to about the ups and downs of being a teenager. She remembers singing her theme song when she decided to be like Private Benjamin and joined the last place she expected to join, the Army. She remembers singing being her shield when she went through her own hurts and pain. To Yorrelle, singing has been a lifelong friend and God’s gift to her.
“The lyrics in a song can make you happy, they can make you sad. Lyrics can remind you of your old hurts or it can bring joy and life. What is it that you want to hear? Sing about it.”
Her first release, Feels Like Love, is a beautiful collection of laid back, yet powerfully inspiring songs which began an intimate portrait that reflects who she was when it came to Loving Relationships, Love within the Family, Love for Oneself, and ultimately, Love for God. “At the time, I was going through some tough trials –who doesn’t? and I need to change it, to snap out of it, to believe, to have faith that my life could change and improve and be better. So I wrote those songs to cheer me (link hidden) sounds clean and compact, but we all have a story and I needed some way to get out of my own rut. Those songs were the best vision of myself and my life.” Released in 2010 with the partnership of Chris Valentine for Woods Entertainment, it took almost four years in production and it was well worth it. From her title track, to her first video-released single, “Southern Ice Tea” speaks to her roots, signifying her goals to stay down to earth and focused on making good music as she continues to thrive forward.
Her second release due out at the end of April is the second ‘child’ in her collection of songs. Yorrelle titled it the The Mood Ring. The Mood Ring, as the title implies has numerous meanings for Yorrelle, one of which how vital it is that she does and shares how own ‘song’ with world, to get people in the mood to change things. Yorrelle believes we all have gifts and this is hers. Says Yorrelle: “As I have grown, I am becoming more of the person I have always wanted to be–and I want that for everyone. Don’t let anyone define you. You go out and define yourself!”
