VOICES OF WOMEN
As women, we have powerful and profound outlooks and ideas about life. Our programs are designed to awaken and enhance the expression of these ideas through interactive performance, retreats and workshops designed to delight, educate and entertain. We seek to provide a renewed understanding of ourselves and other females through the perspective of the greatest women to ever live as powerful and complex females, the women of the Old Testament. There will be dancing, singing, reading and weeping as we share their struggles and triumphs, as well as their sorrow and joy. There could even be fascinating awakenings within your mind and soul as you participate with us.
Our programming is perfect for Sisterhoods, Chavurah, Hadassah, and any other gathering of women. You can always be assured of a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, cooperative spirit, and involvement in the process of planning your event. Please feel free to browse the website for more detailed information. Looking forward to joining you in sharing these experiences as they unfold!
TER LIEBERSTEIN is an experienced presenter, musician and educator and has been a featured speaker, performer and seminar leader at a wide variety of events across the country. She loves to share her knowledge and enthusiasm with others, specializing in creating creative programs tailored to the needs of the event and participants.
As a Cantorial Soloist, Ter has studied with nationally known Cantor/songwriter Doug Cotler and attended classes at Hebrew Union College and American Jewish University. For the last 25 years, she has planned and facilitated retreats and workshops for synagogues, children’s programs, and women’s groups across the country. Ter has also performed and presented at the CAJE conference for Jewish educators and musicians.
Ter is the co-founder of ‘Voices of Women’, co-writing and producing productions that highlight Jewish women of the Torah with her partner, Wendy Hersh. Ter is also a founding member of Elemental Harmony, a female a cappella trio, and writes both original compositions and arrangements for the group. Ter is also a published author and frequent contributor to various newsletters and periodicals.
WENDY HERSH has been involved with Jewish music since her early teens. As song leader for 2 Jewish youth groups (NFTY AND USY) she honed her skills and built her repertoire.
For the past 12 years Wendy has been a Cantorial Soloist at Temple Beth Ami in Newhall and led high holiday childrens services at TBA as well as Congregation Beth Shalom in Canyon Country. She teaches Sunday school and preschool music at both synagogues and has lead the junior and adult choirs at Beth Ami as well. She and her choirs have performed at Purimfest at Magic Mountain and several Purim spiels over the years. Her junior choir was featured in a special concert honoring fallen journalist Daniel Pearl.
Wendy has written songs and new melodies for the Friday night Shabbat service. Her childrens song “Its Time For Shabbat” is a favorite at tot Shabbat. She is recording her songs and plans to release a CD of Jewish music sometime this year. Wendy is also the co-founder of ‘Voices of Women’, co-writing and producing productions that highlight Jewish women of the Torah with her partner, Ter Lieberstein.
Over the years Wendy has performed on violin in orchestras and string quartets, sung in symphonic choir, toured the country playing electric bass in rock bands, done solo work as a folk artist, and most recently has built a following as a children musical performer. She released a CD of original childrens’ songs a few years ago. Songs from “Animal Dance and other Silly Songs” have been featured on airline inflight programs and the CD is a favorite in preschools and libraries.
