Tonia Woodbury is a nationally renowned speaker on diversity and inclusion trends, relationship building and personal branding. With more than 20 years of experience in financial services, marketing and human resources, she is an expert in supply chain management, marketing communications and consensus-building in the areas of supplier diversity, HR training and technology for high-growth companies. Her extensive skills include project management, implementation, negotiation and facilitation. She holds an Institute for Supply Chain Management (ISM) Project Leadership Certification and is currently pursuing her CPSD Certified Professional in Supplier Diversity certification.
A passionate educator who believes in lifelong learning, Woodbury has served as an adjunct professor in the Department of Business and Economics at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C., since 2011. Woodbury also volunteers as a personal mentor and coach for students, particularly teen girls and college-age women. She has spoken to student groups and at various local, regional and national educational conferences, including the 100 Voices of History conference in Washington, DC, about life after college and preparation for the workforce. In addition, she frequently consults with entrepreneurs on growing their businesses, assisting with identifying market trends, pain points and ways to boost the vitality of their companies.
In 2014, Woodbury was the keynote speaker for the Iowa Business Opportunity Business Exchange. She also served on the Entrepreneurship/Business Development panel for the 2017 and 2016 National Urban League National Conferences. At the 2016 Rainbow/PUSH National Convention, she spoke during a session on “Doing Business with Fortune 100 Companies/Entrepreneurship.” She also spoke for the National Black MBA Charlotte Chapter’s Entrepreneurship in Charlotte event. She has been featured in national and regional publications, including Black Enterprise, MBN USA magazine, The Atlanta Tribune, Pride magazine (Charlotte) and RollingOut.
Woodbury serves as a corporate spokesperson for Wells Fargo, the third largest financial services firm in the United States, and the 10th largest in the world. As Vice President, Supplier Diversity Manager, Woodbury helps manage the strategic approach to diverse supplier inclusion efforts for three internal Lines of Business including one of the largest, the Consumer Lending Group. Prior to this promotion, Woodbury managed the strategic direction for corporate sponsorships and supplier diversity outreach activities, as well as development of the company’s overall marketing and communications strategy for supplier diversity. At Wells Fargo, Woodbury established the foundation and framework for the company’s Leaders of Change outreach program, which provides capacity development opportunities for diverse-owned suppliers through scholarships, coaching, mentoring and networking for nearly 2,000 participants between 2010-2013.
Woodbury serves on the board of the Women Presidents’ Educational Organization - NY and the O.P.E.N. My Heart nonprofit organization; and in 2017 she was appointed to the Business Advisory Committee for the City of Charlotte. She also is a member of the National Black MBA Association, the local chapter of the Project Management Institute, Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority Inc. Charlotte Alumnae Chapter and is a Life Member of the South Carolina State University Alumni Association.
In 2014, Woodbury was recognized by WE USA magazine as a “Best of the Decade” honoree for her commitment to women-owned business development. She was awarded Pride Communications 2013 Small Business Week Symposium Recognition, the Partners Achieving Success Leadership Award in 2012, and the Recognition Award – Planning Committee 2012 by the California State Board of Equalization’s Connecting Women to Power Business Conference.
Woodbury earned her B.S. in Business Administration from South Carolina State University and her MBA in Marketing from Clark Atlanta University. She is the proud mother of daughter Erin, 26, who served proudly in the U.S. National Guard. Outside of work, she is an active member of her church, The Park Ministries, and is a trained Television Director, often directing church programming that air on local and national cable TV networks.
