Based in New York City, Bulgarian harpist Tomina Parvanova is a high-demand musician, having performed with major orchestras and ensembles, and winning numerous awards and honors. Ms. Parvanova is a two times winner of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular Orchestra audition (2015, 2016). On Broadway she regularly performs for the Fantasticks (the world’s longest running show). She is the principal harpist for the New York Repertory Orchestra, and performs frequently with Albany Symphony Orchestra, TŌN The Orchestra Now and Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2011 Ms. Parvanova was a harp fellow at the prestigious Tanglewood Music Center, where she performed under the baton of world-renowned conductors such as Kurt Masur, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, and worked closely with Pulitzer Prize winning composer Charles Wourinen. Under a full tuition scholarship Ms. Parvanova received her Masters and Bachelors Degree from Boston University CFA and The Boston Conservatory. While in Boston, Ms. Parvanova was the principal harpist with New England Philharmonic Orchestra, Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra, Longwood Symphony Orchestra, and has appeared with Boston Symphony Orchestra (Tanglewood on Parade), Boston Ballet Orchestra and Boston Modern Orchestra Project. As an orchestral and chamber artist Ms. Parvanova has performed at some of the most prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, Seji Ozawa Hall, Koussevitzky Music Shed to name a few. Awards include first prize at the Bulgarian International Harp Competition “Young Virtuoso”, second place at the USA International Music Competition (Boston, MA), as well as being chosen between candidates from all over the world to perform at the 9th World Harp Congress, Dublin "Focus on Youth" concerts. She was also a two times winner of the AHS Boston Chapter "Ann Hobson Pilot Scholarship". Other honors include second place at the National Music Academy Competition in Sofia, Bulgaria and third place at the International Festival of Music "Coast of Hope" Dobrich, Bulgaria. As a great collaborator of contemporary music, Ms. Parvanova has premiered works by celebrated composers such as Charles Wourinen, Gunther Schuller, Aaron Jay Kernis, Martin Boykan and George Tsontakis. She has performed with new music groups including Sound Icon, Ludovico Ensemble, Xanthos Ensemble, and has taken part of the New York Institute & Festival for Contemporary Performance, IFCP (2014, 2015). Aside from classical music she has appeared with singer-songwriter Diane Badie, Four Celtic Voices, and has taken part of Diana Krall's 2009 "Quiet Nights" tour. Ms. Parvanova is also featured on recordings with Albany Symphony Orchestra, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Providence Singers, “Muziko Monda” Boston’s World Music Ensemble and Pazardjic Symphony Orchestra (Bulgaria). While in Bulgaria, Ms. Parvanova served as principal harpist with Pazardjic Symphony Orchestra, Bulgarian National Academy Symphony Orchestra and Sofia Youth Symphony Orchestra. She also appeared as a soloist with Pazardjic Symphony Orchestra performing the Dottersdorf Concerto for Harp and Orchestra. Ms. Parvanova attended Master Classes with Elizabeth Fontan-Binoche, Marie-Pierre Langlamet, Emily Mitchell and Sioned Williams. In 2009, she was a harp fellow at The Symphony Orchestra Academy of the Pacific, Vancouver B.C. Her primary teachers include Ann Hobson Pilot, Jessica Zhou, Cynthia Price Glynn, Ursula Holliger, Malina Hristova and Kohar Andonian.
