Ever since the age of 5 I've been in front of the piano. After an early focus on classical music and movie themes, I spent a number of years in my teens studying with pianists Alan Thompson, Jr., Johnny Hodges, and Pat Aranda of Main Street, Disneyland, who coached me in various musical styles spreading the first half of the 20th century - from ragtime and honky-tonk to blues, boogie, jazz, and swing. Now 21 and a graduate with the class of 2014 at Claremont McKenna College, I'm performing around the Inland Empire and the greater LA area with a diverse repertoire of both attention-grabbers and pleasant background pieces.
I've been a featured performer at the annual Sutter Creek Ragtime Festival since 2009 and have played in the West Coast Ragtime Festival and the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee. I also play restaurants, bars, festivals, weddings, private parties, and public venues.
If a piano is not present at the venue I have an upright keyboard that I can bring; however, moving it is a 2-person job so I may need someone at the venue that can help me unload and move it (it is on wheels).
I play a wide variety of songs from genres including blues, jazz, swing, boogie, honky-tonk, and ragtime. The following is a small sampling of my repertoire:
Begin the Beguine - The Entertainer - Stormy Weather - Carolina in the Morning - La Paloma - St. Louis Rag - New Orleans Funeral March - Mary Poppins Medley - Cocktails for Two - Pinetop Boogie - As Time Goes By
Scott Joplin; Al Jolson; Irving Berlin; Louis Armstrong; Glenn Miller; Benny Goodman; Alan Thompson, Jr.; Johnny Hodges; Robert Glenn; Pat Aranda
A piano would be nice - though not necessarily required.
