John Parker was born in St. Louis Missouri. He graduated from McCluer Senior High School in the suburb of Ferguson, where he was an All State performer in football, basketball, and track. He was inducted into the schools' Hall of Fame in 2003. He was awarded a college football scholarship, and played Defensive Back at Ball State University, in Muncie, Indiana. He holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Education, and a Masters of Science Degree in Sports Marketing.
He was a very talented athlete, who had a lifelong dream of playing in the National Football League, but that dream came to an abrupt end when he was critically injured in a head-on automobile accident with a drunk driver. He got his calling to become a coach, and quickly moved through the ranks the college arena. In over twenty four years, he has coached 12 NFL draft choices, 7 of which who have played in the Super Bowl.
Besides his coaching duties, John has success in a number of different professions. He is a former insurance producing agent for the State of Missouri. He has received awards as a top sales person for one of the world’s largest computer companies. In 2009, John hung up his whistle permanently, and began the second half of his career (permanently and full-time) hosting the national radio/television sports talk show, “The Sports Mayhem USA.” The Emmy Award winning show was recognized throughout the nation, syndicated on 137 stations and a mainstay on the Armed Forces Network for 11 years.
John Parker became an social activist, honed his public speaking talents and expertise, and began speaking to both small and large companies, organizations and on college campuses all over the United States. He is former President of the Board of Directors of AHA Unlimited, a not for profit organization in St. Louis specializing in art therapy for at risk youth. He is a board member of The Adoption Exchange, Athletes and Entertainers Circle of Influence, The St. Louis Ambassadors, The St. Louis Small Business Associations and the Viral Cancer Research Foundation.
He has hosted and spoken at events for The NFL, The National Liver Foundation, The Crisis Nursery, The Jack and J.T. Snow Foundation, and he is a member of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the United Way. He had been nominated for “Man of the Year” twice by the Leukemia Lymphoma Society for his national fundraising drive P.A.L.L. (Professionals Against Leukemia Lymphoma) which has raised over a million dollars for the charity.
He has been recognized by the “I’m a Survivor” Foundation because of his 2- time successful battle with cancer.
He is the current President of Evolution Communications Group, a boutique public/media relations/crisis communications/contract negotiation firm that specializes in both high profile clients and national crisis situations. He has been contracted to the Department of Justice among his many other clients.
In addition to his many talents, John Parker is a published Author of three books, “A Compartmentalized Life”, “From Sheets To Suits: Embedded Racism in American Society” and his most recent accomplishment, “A Cold Day In August: The Controversial Killing of Michael Brown Jr.” which examines the tragic day in Ferguson, Missouri in August of 2014 that set off a racially charged firestorm across the United States.
