My performance requires a stage with mic and mic stand. I almost always play with an instrumental but sometimes no music, Just solo trumpet, depending on the clients request. I am always dressed for the occasion and well Groomed. I also request a sound technician with experience in effects if possible, in order to achieve to right sound quality. Most of my performances are done standing or sitting an a stool.
The Majestic sound of a trumpet is always the leading call to order in my opinion, which is why when I heard it for the first time, it captured me forever. Music has always been a huge part of my family life. I first picked up a trumpet at age ten, after I had heard breathtaking fanfare at a wedding. I was so amazed that shortly after, I bought myself a Louis Armstrong CD that was on sale, and began. Armstrong quickly became one of my favorite trumpet players at the time. As i got older I began to broaden my taste, coming to like styles like Big Band, smooth Jazz, Classical and Gospel. I began listening to Trumpeters like Wynton Marsalis, Maynard Ferguson, Chuck Mangione and Phill Driscoll to name a few, which is where most of my influence came from. I am also heavily influenced by The World Famous Bahama Brass Band.
Growing up in The Bahamas, the band was a big part of my growth and development. We specialized in church hymns and a number of christian patriotic march songs, played in four part harmony with a one of a kind rhythm. Through High school my talent continued to flourish and awarded me a music scholarship after graduating with multiple music awards. I attended the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College where my music scholarship got me a spot in the marching band and concert pit band. I was also apart of the schools Jazz, and pep band, performing at banquets, churches, dinners and basketball games. After graduating I move to Florida where i am now a solo performer and play with the Florida Sunshine Band.
Lighting is always good. If possible I look for a smooth dim lit setting, but it all depends on what the client is trying to achieve. Sound technician must be present to adjust monitors and adjust mic effects needed to get the sound I want.
