From R&B and soul hits of yesterday and today to driving funk & Latin grooves to smooth and tasty jazz, we've got you covered!
We can keep everyone dancing, create a smooth & mellow background sound, or anything in between. Most of all, we make sure that the music is one less thing for you to worry about so you can focus on your guests. We seamlessly blend our show, attire, and attitude with your artistic vision to create an experience your guests will remember.
We were most impressed by the musicianship and professionalism of The Purple Herons. Their communication was excellent and they were on time and ready to go at the start of our event. Our guests enjoyed the music and had fun dancing to some of the groovier songs.
The band went the extra mile in adding decorative touches to their setup that helped them blend in with the decor for our event, and they did a nice job of providing time for announcements as we needed them. Their stage presence is relaxed but polished--they take their work seriously, but they also brought a lot of fun to our event.
I would definitely recommend The Purple Herons. We will definitely book them again.

The Purple Herons is a 4-piece band consisting of keyboard, bass, drums, and vocals, plus other instruments as needed. All members of the band play more than one instrument. Our job is to make you look great by helping make your event magical & memorable.
You bring the party, we'll bring the fun(k). Our music ranges from R&B classics like Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder to full-on funk, neo-soul, and jazz fusion. We offer as much or as little audience interaction as you wish to whip the crowd into a frenzy, sit back and enjoy some conversation, or anything in between. We can also serve as an instrumental group to provide a sophisticated & uptown sound that can include smooth & cool jazz in addition to our R&B offerings.
With more than 75 years of combined performing experience, you can expect professional service at every stage of your event, from planning to the final load-out. Our setup is compact & quick, and we adjust our act to best suit your needs, including volume levels and tempos to blend seamlessly with your vision for success.
Starting with a chance meeting between two complete strangers, The Purple Herons have been playing and evolving since 2017. Their lineup brings together a mix of highly experienced professional musicians with a commitment to making great music that's fun to hear as well as play.
Combining classic & modern soul and R&B grooves with a generous infusion of funk, Latin, and cool jazz influences, The Purple Herons create music that will keep everyone dancing, singing, and grooving. The band has a great chemistry and their creative & joyous spirit is infectious, bringing smiles, laughter, and toe-tapping fun to listeners of all ages from private events to clubs, conventions, fairs, and even the Oregon Zoo. Grab your dancing shoes and get ready to groove with us!
Our needs are simple:
* AC power to the performance area
* Performance space of at least 10 feet by 12 feet
* For outdoor events, we prefer to have some kind of covering
That's it! We are self-sufficient otherwise and can adapt to simple or fancy technical setups.
