The Luneta Jazz Band formed in 2010 at Tulane University. The group is comprised of degree-holding, university trained professional musicians. These musicians were the founding members of the first traditional jazz ensemble in Tulane's history. Under the careful eyes and ears of Jim Markway, The Luneta Jazz Band blossomed into a preservation powerhouse with the ability and potential to thrive on the scene. Since their inception they've opened for Big Freeida, held a weekly gig at The BMC, residencies at The Maison and The Bourbon O Bar, played weddings, conventions, and all over the club scene.
We utilize a revolving door of musicians specifically chosen for each performance. Our group size and instrumentation changes based on the event. We are an extremely flexible group ready to provide the musical entertainment you desire.
All we absolutely require is a bunch of ready ears and feet ready to dance. But if we could have it our way, we wouldn't mind having:
a stage big enough for 3-8 musicians
1-5 microphones (w/ stands & cables)
at least one monitor
a PA & mixing board
at least one power strip
a piano (the music will sound more authentic with this than a keyboard!)
a rug/carpet (for the drums to sit on)
4 chairs/stools
a house drum kit
a dance floor
Having any/all of the above is unnecessary but will make the experience a whole lot easier and less complicated.
