The Idle Time Band was exactly what we were hoping for! We had an outdoor country wedding and they were the perfect accompaniment. The guys were super friendly and easy to work with. If I ever plan another event and and need a bluegrass Band I know who I'm calling!
If you are considering booking the Idle Time Band for an event, please do not hesitate! I live in Florida but was looking for an acoustic band to play for my son's North Carolina mountain wedding as the venue was next to the river and there was no power. Once I inquired through GigSalad, Eric C contacted me and we worked out all of the details. I told him about the power limitations and that the area was quite remote; however, Eric told me he would scout out the wedding venue ahead of time to make sure they would be ready! Indeed they were- professionals through and through, the Idle Time Band made the wedding festive and special-the music was beyond all expectations and the band brought their own generator so that the music was perfect --a little quieter during dinner so that people could talk to each other, but also loud enough to tap your toes to the beat of the music! As a special touch, the Band serenaded the couple with the song, "All I Ever Wanted." There were plenty of tears of joy and the Idle Time made it all possible! I also asked if they could play certain tunes- Eric let me know that they would incorporate as many as possible and indeed the band did! Rocky Top was so much fun!! I could go on, but I will say that communication was key and the Band was always responsive. The band played a little longer than contracted, but it isn't surprising once you meet them--trustworthy, dependable, and just plain nice folks who can play Bluegrass and sing with the best of 'em- you will not be disappointed!
We recently hired this band to play/entertain at our wedding reception. They were absolutely wonderful and all of our guests are still commenting on the music and atmosphere that that they added to our rustic farm wedding. They even allowed the children to join in and sing with them. I would recommend this great group of guys to anyone and will definitely be hiring them again in the future!
Thank you so much for helping make the first annual RockyFest a fabulous success! The enthusiasm and energy you brought to the stage made all the difference. You guys are an assett to our community and we look forward to having you back again next year...until then, keep pickin'.
I would highly recommend The Idle Time Band! Each and every one of the members have true musical talent. They performed for a large crowd at our event, and everyone loved their performance. You get chills just listening to the instrumental solos, as well as the vocals. This band is rock solid, and they bleed bluegrass. You won't be disappointed, guaranteed!
These guys have a wonderful, authentic bluegrass sound. Not only are they accomplished instrumentalists, but their vocal harmonies make them stand out. The fact that they include a Dobro player in their lineup is also a positive, because you don't always find that. When I first heard The Idle Time Band I was surprised to find a group of this quality in my small town.
The band members were also very personable and easy to work with. At one point we had some issues with the sound system in our facility, and the band quickly adapted to make things work. Their song selection was well-suited to our event. I would highly recommend this band to anyone who enjoys bluegrass music.
We had Idle Time band come out and play for us. It was a GREAT experience for everyone involved. They came in on time and held a great concert! HIGHLY RECOMMEND them for any live band performance! Plus there CD is amazing with great music! Thank you Idle Time Band!
The Idle Time Band exceeded all expectations for our Peelin', Eatin', Politickin Legislative Shrimp Boil! Easy to book, accomodated special requests, showed up early, and impressed us and our 200+ guests with their amazing talent! Would highly recommend.
The music of The Idle Time Band was the perfect for our company's fall festival. They sounded great and were very professional. We would definately hire them again for future events.
These guys are excellent musicians, both vocally and instrumentally. They make a point to involve the audience when appropriate and can handle the show on their own. They put on a clean show, absolutely family appropriate and when possible, their families travel with them. Dependable, easy to work with, definitely plan to do business with them again!
We had the Idle Time Band play during our rehearsal dinner and we couldn't be happier! They sounded great and exceded our expectations. The guests kept asking where we found the band becuase they loved them so much. Even my 91 year old grandmother was dancing! They are excellent musicians and professionals. They even stayed and played longer than originally planned-it was awesome!
I hired the Idle Time Band for my daughter's graduation party in June 2011. They put on a terrific show and even did a special song request for us!
Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the show and I would hire them again in a heart beat.

What to Expect
You are sure to experience a lively show that interacts well with the audience. We like to cut up just a little bit while maintaining the intent of the show; to have a good time and play Bluegrass!
We are a 5-piece bluegrass band based out of Taylorsville, NC. John Treadway is on banjo, Russell Loudermelk on mandolin, Jimmy Trivette on Bass, Bill Warren on guitar, & Eric Childers on the dobro. You may search the web to find our home page site. All of us have been playing for several years in various bands. We have a hard driving sound steeped in traditional roots that sounds as good as any weekend warrior band on the bluegrass circuit today. We would classify ourselves as semi-professional musicians and singers while holding down professional day jobs.
Additional Booking Notes
We can supply our own sound system.
