What to Expect
If our performance is a jazz concert, we will perform music composed or performed by artists like John Coltrane, Dizzy Gillespie, Kenton, Charlie Parker, Woody Herman, Thelonious Monk, Maynard Ferguson, Bill Chase and many other jazz greats.
For a wedding audience we generally expect all age groups from grand parents down to teen-agers so for those events we mix up
our music to provide a great variety of music ranging from Glen Miller to Blondie and a whole lot in between.
For corporate product launches or presentations we often prepare music in advance to coincide with the theme.
Regardless of what type of engagement we play, we try to time our breaks to coincide with speaches, late lunch, or any other events of the evening.
Our repertoire is very large and high quality, enabling us to entertain seniors in nursing or retirement homes or keep college music students on the edge of their seat with some "smokin" jazz.
We are the George Rose Big Band, and have been together over thirty years. During that time of course there have been some changes in personel due to people growing older, some moving to another area and unfortunately some passing away. Having said that however, there are still some original members in the band. Our band has been a continuously evolving entity as our musical styles have followed our listeners requests, and as times have moved along we now find ourselves playing not just the original swing music that we started with, but rather a full gammit of swing , rock, r& b, latin, jazz, movie themes, broadway show tunes, and a number of current pop tunes. We are well equipped to play for jazz concerts/festivals, corporate launch of new product or company events, weddings, fund raisers, community events, service clubs, Grand openings, College/ university functions, country clubs or any other event requiring classy music. Further, we dress appropriately for your occasion, and will work our music around your schedule. We have an enormous amount of talent within the band and our presentations are always fresh and exciting. Our success for over thirty years is a direct result of pleasing our customers.
Additional Booking Notes
When we set up, we require a foor space or stage that is 16 ft deep by 24ft wide. Because the band is mostly accoustic instruments(non- electric) we don't require heavy duty electrical power. We do however use lights on our music stands, and our piano, bass, guitar and pa system use electricity. Generally two 120 volt separately fused outlets are sufficient. None of our band member are serious drinkers, but complimentary soft drinks are always appreciated.
Our set list varies with every engagement, but some of the most asked for tunes include; In The Mood, 25 or 6 to 4, Misty, Tell Me What'd I Say, Does Anybody Know What Time It Is, Call Me, Don't Know Why, Papa's Got A Brand New Bag, Oh Babe!
