The Cypress Duo, an acoustic flute and guitar duo, performs a spectrum of musical styles including standard classical repertoire, celtic tunes, and popular songs. The duo is based out of Wilmington, NC.
Justin Hoke, guitar, recently graduated with a Doctorate in Guitar Performance from Florida State University. He is also a member of the North Carolina Guitar Quartet and teaches at The University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
Amanda is a professional flutist with over 15 years of experience, having served as principal flute in over a dozen symphony orchestras. She has played with the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, Panama City POPS orchestra (FL), and the Oak Ridge Symphony.

What to Expect
An audience member will hear a variety of musical styles depending on choice. The guitar is harmonic and at times percussive, while the flute is melodious and graceful.
Amplification might be necessary, but flute and guitar is perfect for intimate events including weddings or housewarmings.

Justin Hoke, guitar, is an active soloist, chamber musician, and educator based out of Wilmington, NC. He has been featured as a soloist on classical and electric guitar with the Panama City Orchestra, Florida State University Orchestra, and the Appalachian State University Guitar Orchestra. In addition, Dr. Hoke has performed in solo and with ensembles across the East Coast in a variety of musical styles. He currently performs throughout the region as a member of the North Carolina Guitar Quartet. In 2013, Dr. Hoke joined the UNCW music faculty where he teaches classical guitar and music theory.
Amanda Taylor is a native of Kentucky. For two and a half years she devoted herself to flute pedagogy and performance studies at the Florida State University under the guidance of Eva Amsler. Prior to her graduate studies at FSU, she earned a Master's degree in performance at the University of Tennessee under Dr. Shelley Binder, who was trained by Louis Moyse. Amanda has played with the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, Panama City POPS, Sinfonia Gulf Coast, Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, and the Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. She currently teaches a small studio of flutist and performs in the Wilmington, NC area.

Justin and Amanda are classically trained but have developed a love for celtic music. Popular music is also a major influence -- Amanda loves Radiohead, My Morning Jacket, and bluegrass.
