Andy and Elly perform individually or as a dynamic duo.
Very easy going, respectful, great attitude, and wonderfully friendly and prepared. Showed up on time (before me) and patiently waited. Would highly recommend.
Response from The Chicagoland Duo:
Even a month later, Elly and I still feel the joy and fun from participating in your broadcast/streaming. Thanks again for inviting us and for the great review! All best in 2019, Andy p.s. Please feel free to contact us again!
What to Expect
Elly and Andy present a classy act of Broadway, American Songbook, and pop (in addition to patriotic selections, opera pieces, piano ragtime) customized for your event. With Elly’s captivating singing and Andy’s brilliant playing, your audience will be thrilled at their performance. They often sing in harmonizing duet. Their clever and humorous interactions will delight your guests. The Chicagoland Duo brings its own sound equipment, including a keyboard where there is no piano.
What we'd mainly want you to know about us is that we're flexible. Elly had been doing solo performances using recorded backing tracks -- "karaoke style" -- until she met Andy when he was performing at a rehabilitation center -- doing his standard mixture of playing, telling jokes and singing a few tunes. He asked if anyone wanted to come up and sing a song with him and, well, the rest is history.
Now, they still do solo shows, but they prefer to perform together -- as they did recently in a cabaret showcase at Davenport's on Milwaukee Ave. just south of North Ave. in the City -- premiering their newest compilation show "Just An Old-Fashioned Love Song." Whatever you need, we're happy to provide.
A lifelong musician gifted in pop, classical and improvisation, Andy music-directed a Broadway revue touring Russia, Lithuania and Poland, sang with a barbershop chorus in Carnegie Hall, and has accompanied improv comedy shows sailing the Pacific. Andy studied piano at Oberlin Conservatory, then completed his B.M. in theory and composition from Northwestern University, and enjoys playing everything from Beethoven to Broadway.
As a trained dramatic mezzo soprano, Eleanor ("Elly") has sung over 30 years in choirs and as a soloist for classical, sacred, and musical theater programs. She graduated from Hope College, Holland, Michigan, studying voice, piano, and education. Elly has been studying voice privately the past 12 years and regularly performs at area senior residences with a popular PowerPoint of lyrics and inspirational photos.
