The Center State is a folk/ americana trio. We provide professional live folk music for original shows, corporate events, private parties, house concerts, etc. We have the capabilities to provide professional sound that we tour with. If you like acoustic instrumentation, folk/americana music, silky harmonies, and deep lyrics then you will like us! We've been compared to The Civil Wars, Mumford & Sons, Ray Lamontagne, Sara Jarosz, Nickel Creek, Punch Brothers, Damien Rice, and Bears Den, just to name a few.
Center State put on an great show for us at The LEX. They were very professional, and easy to work with. We are just sorry that we did not have the attendance numbers to witness what a wonderful performance The Center State put on. The LEX would love and not hesitate to host The Center State again!
Response from The Center State:
Thanks so much for the review Jonathan! That really means a lot to us, and we'd LOVE to come back to Lexington whenever you have you're next event! :)
What to Expect
The Center State accommodates their trio performance for the mood of each specific event. Some events require a few acoustic instruments to play background music that is easy on the ears and creates a relaxed atmosphere. Other events might want the music "cranked up to 11" by the band that makes you want to stomp your feet. Then there are those events that call for a little of something in between. Whichever is preferred, our goal is to create the ideal atmosphere that caters to each client's event needs. This is what can be expected when clients hire The Center State.

The Center State's second full-length album, Wilderness, is out now on iTunes, Spotify, and many other digital platforms! With it comes two BRAND NEW music videos for their original songs "Wilderness"and "Sunrise". (Each music video can be found under the "video" tab)
Part acoustic pop music, part troubadour with a silky lament, and one part organic Americana, their sophomore album is a great example of the band flexing their folk muscles in the studio. This confident collection of songs is as agony-filled in places as it is catchy and hopeful in others, sometimes within the span of a single song! The trio, and sometimes quintet, of musicians are as eccentric as the music they play. The quirky Davidson couple that plays upright bass and violin, and shares vocals with the songwriter of the group Jeremy Sharp, are always inquisitive in pursuit of interesting music that has staying power. Jeremy, the acoustic guitarist of the group, honed his writing sensibility in the Midwest, surrounded by small towns, hot muggy days off the Missouri river.
The Center State has shared the stage with artists, such as The Burney Sisters, The Lacewings, The Social Animals, Sky Smeed, Good Morning Bedlam, Handmade Moments, Matthew West, Paul Clark, Andy Cherry, Sanctus Reel, & The Souvineers.
