Our typical performance is mainly acoustic using mics when needed. We feature three and four part vocal harmonies, hard driving traditional bluegrass, and original material composed in the bluegrass style. Our instrumental style varies from very traditional bluegrass to newgrass and swing. Often heard comments are "your voices blend so beautifully", "you just blew us away, every heard something they liked", "your songs sound as if they have been around for ever". We strive to play great music for great people who want to have a great time.
Isaac and Emily Callender have been musical partners since they met as ill-fated stand partners in a college orchestra. Two more different musical backgrounds could not have been found but from that diversity came a single musical juggernaut.
Isaac began his musical career as a champion fiddler but soon moved into playing bluegrass, old-time, country, and western swing. He diversified his instrumental skills delving into bass, mandolin, guitar, banjo, dobro, lap steel, and electric guitar. He honed his skills touring and performing with a variety of groups ranging from the 133rd Army Band, Kane’s River, Trace County, and the April Verch Band.
Emily’s musical prowess is a family tradition. As a third generation music professional she grew up in the classical and jazz world. She holds degrees in violin, viola, piano, and vocal performance as well as a masters in education. She has been a soloist with orchestras and operas throughout the northwest as well as being in high demand with her string quartets and jazz ensembles. She runs an award winning strings program for the Pendleton Public School system as well as being the Director for the Oregon East Symphony’s Elementary Strings Program.
Together, Isaac and Emily bring the best of tradition and musicality to every performance. Their shows feature music from around the world with the common thread of great melodies, passionate lyrics, and exceptional musical ability.
We travel with our own sound that will accomodate up to 350 people. Sound beyond that and any lights are the promoters responsibility.
Sets generally consist of two thirds traditional bluegrass and one third original material.
