We play our favorite new wave songs from the late 70s and early 80s in an all acoustic format. Mandolin, bass, guitar, accordion and percussion make up our very full live sound. Our love of these songs comes through in our energetic show, which can for up to 3 hours of solid music with a wide variety of energy levels. Bands we play: Depeche Mode, The Cure, The English Beat, Tears For Fears, Elvis Costello, New Order, Oingo Boingo, Echo and the Bunnymen, and The Smiths to name a few.
We enjoyed The Angry Babies for the first time last Saturday at The Vault in Redlands. Lots of fun to listen to with an interesting sound that includes mandolin, accordion & percussion. Good vocals. They do late 70's & 80's covers of familiar songs, but their mix of instruments makes the songs sound new. Enough dancible music to get U out of your chairs. So glad they played til 1AM! Check them out!
Response from The Angry Babies:

We have done gigs as both side-dishes and main course; that is, we can provide atmosphere to your event, or we can be a main focal point. You can expect an energetic set ranging from Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears, Modern English, The Cure, Oingo Boingo, New Order, The Smiths and many more. The nature of our music selections and acoustic format very often brings people into the performance with singing along and dancing to these amazing songs.
Friends having a good time playing from a common lexicon of New Wave turned into something more. There's a ton of great songs from the New Wave era that get written off as kitschy 30+ years later when tied to the 80s sound, and by re-formatting them we try to bring those same great songs to the ears of new audiences and remind the ears of those who were around back then just why they loved those songs so much in the first place.
We can provide our own sound for an additional fee. If you are providing sound, we require at least 5 microphone inputs into the PA system for a small venue; up to 8 for a larger venue. Stage monitors are appreciated, but if it is a small venue we can get by without them.
