TAK is good old sing-along, get-up-and-dance rock. Soaring guitar solos. Shimmering organ and ragtime piano. A tight, funky rhythm section. Lady singers who blend like honey. Our originals recall the sexy funk and soulful blues of Sly Stone and Derek and the Dominoes, modernized in the mode of the Black Crowes and Fitz and the Tantrums. Covers include Joe Cocker, Stevie Wonder, Temptations, Aretha and, again, Master Sly himself.
Takes All Kinds is available for clubs, weddings, parties, fundraisers, and outdoor events.

What to Expect
Takes All KInds works hard to get everyone up and dancing!
TAK came together through the magic of Craigslist. Despite old Craig’s reputation, no one died, and no one has (sadly?) gotten too kinky. The name Takes All Kinds came about from our contrast in musical tastes, our of life philosophies from Mormon to hippie, and the fact that our singer is named Diva. Yes. Diva. Destiny? We think so.
TAK has become a fixture of the Bellingham scene, playing at the much-mourned Fairhaven Pub, the Wild Buffalo, and the beertastic Boundary Bay brewery. We seek to expand our range and funk Seattle, Vancouver and beyond.
Our drummer can lean back for funk or pound out the rock with equal aplomb. Our bassist rolls out deep, greasy and spacey notes. Our
keyboardist, who settles for nothing less than a vintage-sounding Nord Electro, can sure shimmer an organ, tap a clav, and rag the piano. Our guitarists blend a perfect laid-back funk groove with some soulful solos. And our not-so-secret weapons, Diva Menke-Thielman and Rebecca Waggoner, channel Bonnie Raitt and Susan Tedeschi for smoothness and grit, depending on the occasion. Originals are written by all members.
