Jazz/R&B-based singer and multi-instrumentalist. In my solo sets, I use a 5-track looper with just my voice! I combine beat boxing, bass lines, and harmonies to create full arrangements of well-known songs and originals.
What to Expect
Stephanie's style is smooth and soulful. She is known to capture a crowd, and keep the intrigue with the mystery of her looper. She'll even get people involved in sing-alongs (if appropriate)! This style is best for intimate gatherings, as background music for cocktail hour, or as a feature for the night. For larger crowds, she'll include a bass player for variety.
Stephanie began with a classical degree in music, and switched over to jazz soon after graduating. Since then, she has moved to Portland to further her career as a live performer. She's had a wonderful few years performing at every major jazz venue in Portland, and is now focusing on solo work. Realizing that it is hard to make a full sound on her own, she decided to buy a loop station with a simple set-up: her voice! She beat boxes hip-hop beats, sings bass lines with the machine's effects, and puts gospel harmonies over it. With five tracks, she can create full songs and sing over them. She is currently pursuing her own career in producing and performing with her loop station, and occaisionally with live bands.
Additional Booking Notes
Stephanie will need one outlet within 15 feet of where she plays. That's it!
