Listen Like An Interrogator To Find Your Future Leaders
Listening is a skill. Learning to listen to identify great leaders is a necessity. We’ve all worked with people who shouldn’t be promoted. Unfortunately, those people are often the ones jumping up and down, raising their hands, and trampling over others on their way to the corner office.
How will you know if the rest of the team will follow a leader if you’re not listening? In this interactive keynote or workshop, you will learn to listen like an interrogator to identify who has their finger on the pulse of your company’s culture. Suprise! It’s probably not who you think.
Heather won’t stop there. she’ll teach you to search out latent talent, suppressed leadership and how to persuade, encourage, and train a reluctant leader. Along the way, she’ll help you crush any doubts about whether or not they’re well worth the investment.
Non-verbal communications, body language, eye-contact, and facial expression are quiet clues to great leadership…like the bloody footprint at a violent crime scene that can be hard to ignore but ultimately the fast-track to a rabbit hole, the person screaming “me, me, me, me,” may not have the whole story required for great leadership.
Communicate Like a Hostage Negotiator to Motivate Your Team
Motivating a team towards success driven results can be a challenge especially if you don’t know what they really need to succeed. How do you get them to listen to you? If they do listen, how do you encourage them to give their best work? Motivating people is a skill Heather learned as a hostage negotiator. Using the same skills she developed to safely remove hostages from danger, she teaches audiences how to influence peak team performance.
Every great leader needs to continuously evolve their communication efforts if they want to stay great or become greater. In this interactive keynote or workshop, Heather will teach your team how to talk like a hostage negotiator to remove barriers to success and elicit compassion, cooperation, and compliance during even the most difficult conversations. Heather makes what’s complicated about effective communication easy for audiences to consume and take away resulting in easy implementation, better relationships, better business, and more positive outcomes in less time.
Secrets & Strategies of Superior Self-Defense
Not all self-defense techniques are created equally. Learn the superior self-defense strategies your audience needs to stay safe in any situation. This keynote or workshop uncovers the unexpected truths of how to stay safe.
A decade as a Special Agent made Heather Ryan adept at getting criminals to spill their secrets. Here’s one of them: Bad guys choose their victims.
Armed with that knowledge, Heather stayed curious to learn the who, what, where, when and why’s behind that truth. In this riveting keynote, she’ll surprise audiences with the cold hard facts about some to the most common safety myths, debunk them, and set a new course for staying safe.
Harnessing the Power of Your Intuitive Wonder Woman
Being a woman in a male-dominated profession can be a challenge. But more importantly, it can be an advantage. Looking like a second-grade teacher enabled Heather to easily buy drugs undercover, conduct surveillance for espionage investigations, and interrogate hardened criminals. Why? Because she was underestimated.
When we believe in our feminine power, it no longer matters how others see us, but how we see ourselves. We can choose to be offended or we can choose to use it to our advantage. This presentation provides specific suggestions on how your intuition can allow you to become a leader in your chosen field. Along the way, you’ll also learn some unique strategies for staying safe in a scary world.

Like the T.V. show NCIS but not as cool, Heather’s stellar performance as a Special Agent with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service taught her to harness intuition, listen like her life depended on it, and leverage stereotypes to her advantage.
Heather was able to buy cocaine undercover, chase spies all over the world, interrogate rapists, and stand up for victims who had lost their voice without ever getting hurt by using her intuition as a powerful resource.
Before Heather’s crazy adventure began, she was a Kappa Delta at Ball State University and earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice & psychology. After a life changing experience as a social worker where a conversation with a perpetrator about making better choices just wouldn’t do, Heather earned her Master of Science degree in criminology from Indiana State University. She is also the author of "Special Agent Mom" set to release spring of 2017.
