Gig Length: 30 - 90 minutes
Something Extra performs pop, jazz, indie rock, folk and spirituals, as well as traditional Yale songs. Although Something Extra's group members rarely major in music, Something Extra's repertoire is almost exclusively self-arranged.
Outside of Yale A Cappella, Something Extra regularly sings at private and corporate gatherings, University events, restaurants, schools, and a host of other venues. Last year, the group sang at two marriage proposals, and was featured on the morning news in Texas.
Something Extra is available for hire throughout the academic year and would be the perfect choice for entertainment at your next event! The group is also available for music workshops at schools.
Something Extra can perform entirely "A Capella" (free of mics/lighting/etc.), but if available, soloist, vocal percussion, and backup microphones are preferred for each performance.

In the fall of 1977, undergraduate Lori-Ann Wynter marched a group of tuxedo-clad young women on stage at a Dwight Hall jamboree. The emcee, taken aback, improvised: "And to conclude the night, here's a little... something extra!"
The women of Something Extra have since swapped their tuxedos for black evening gowns and red opera gloves, but the group is proud to maintain the tradition of musical excellence, friendship, style, and adventure established by its alumnae.
