As the owner of a popular ice cream parlor in Baltimore City, David spent a decade working with at-risk teenagers and young adults from some of the roughest neighborhoods in the country. "Sometimes, we just need to adjust how we view life. We weren't serving ice cream! We were serving family celebrations after a kid won his soccer game. We were serving a little bit of empathy to the lonely widow that would come visit us each week. We weren't serving ice cream, we were serving people, and there is something very meaningful in that," David explains. "How many of us get so bogged down in what we are doing at work, that we begin to confuse the what with the why? At the end of the day, no matter what industry you might think you are in, we are all in the same industry: the people industry, and that's something to be proud of."
