Clean and clever, he has been likened to Dennis Miller with a splash of George Carlin thrown in. Scott Angrave is a college graduate, a former accountant, and a “not-so-perfect” English gentleman. Since 1987 he has spent approximately seven months out of every year touring the US. Nothing is spared in search of ridicule: Food, Holidays, Language - you name it, he talks about it! Now a US citizen, in 2004, he founded Country Club Comedians, Inc. - an agency that specializes in providing comedians, magicians, and Murder Mysteries to the private and corporate community. With over 30 varied entertainers on the roster, he has performers for almost any event where humor is the requirement.
Price Range: $500 plus travel
Gig Length: 30 - 50 minutes
What to Expect
A well-dressed, well-spoken, educated entertainer telling hilarious stories about his experiences in the USA.
Opened for Wayne Newton, The Beach Boys, Eddie Money, and The Pointer Sisters
Angrave pokes fun at American food (“There are people in this country eating the feet of pigs! English food is not very good, but I’ve never looked at a fat old sow and said, “Mmmm. Just look at those trotters! I am so hungry I could eat crunchy hooves!””), American holidays (“We have the 4th of July; we just don’t call it Independence Day. We celebrate one of our national heroes – Benedict Arnold – you might have heard of him.”), the American language (“We spent thousands of years developing a new language, and YOU lot screwed it up!”), as well as his homeland (“We have a Royal family. You may have seen our Queen – Elton John…”) and the differences between the two countries (“America is HUGE! England is very small. In England, our maps are actual size. You go to buy a map and they give you a piece of paper with a big cross on. It says, “You are here.” You put it on the ground and stand on it.”).
“Without a doubt, I get more requests to do the “word-play” bits than any other. There are literally hundreds of words in the English language that mean different things to me than they do to you.”
After more than 29 years in the business, the “Limey” averages a laugh every eleven seconds in the first ten minutes of his 50-minute show. Not many comedians can boast figures like that.
Angrave appears regularly in Las Vegas and Atlantic City and has headlined comedy clubs on both sides of the Atlantic as well as Canada and the Caribbean. Miller Lite sponsors him for appearances at military bases on the “Comics on Duty” tour and he’s part of the USO Celebrity Worldwide Tour. He has been seen dozens of times on national TV in the US and Canada – most recently on NBC’s Last Comic Standing - and is a regular on the John Boy & Billy syndicated radio show. He pops up as a bogus “expert” at corporate events around the country, having played for such companies as British Airways, Alamo Rent-a-Car, and Hardees. In short, he has entertained just about everyone from the age of 17 upwards – from college students to corporate executives to senior citizens.
When asked if he would ever return to England full-time he replies, “Not unless they get a big umbrella over the whole country.”
