Russell in the Bushes consists of four “musically well-seasoned” members. Primarily a party/dance/show band (but can scale from small club to outdoor festivals and large halls), we play mostly “old time rock and roll” and pop hits of the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s.
Alicia – has lived on the Saanich Peninsula for over 25 years and works as a high school performing arts teacher during the day.
A "triple threat" performer who fronts the band, she holds down the lead vocals as well as the bass and keyboards, Alicia also has the dance moves and youthful stamina to keep the party going all night long.
Arlie – Serving double-duty as bassist and rhythm guitarist, not much is actually known about Arlie except that everyone in the Victoria area seems to "know of him" and he is generally regarded by all as a warmhearted and great guy. He also has been seen putting in sprinklers around town and occasionally shows up for gigs on time.
Arlie also has the dance moves and youthful stamina to keep the party going all night long.
p.s. if you know anything about Arlie hit us up with the info and we'll add it here!
Chris – Has played music in the Victoria and Vancouver area professionally for over 25 years. Chris studied commercial, jazz, and classical music and recording technology for several years at Capilano University (N. Vancouver, BC) before moving "back home" to complete degrees in Sociology and Psychology at UVic.
After having his fill of higher education, Chris worked for several years at a commercial (music) software company working in the roles of Project Manager, Multimedia Programmer, Content Producer, and Technical Writer of several highly successful music software applications -- and in the process got to work with world-class musicians such as Oscar Peterson, Miles Black, Dr. John, and Rebeca Maulen among others.During this time Chris started a multimedia software consulting company called CD-Mediaworks creating myriad multimedia software, soundtracks, and DVD-Video productions. Chris returned to UVic in 2006 to work as a multimedia programmer, lab administrator, and A/V recording engineer -- but always with a guitar not far from his hand. Most recently, Chris has been busy creating iOS Applications (iPhone and iPad) for UVic -- several of which are distributed in the Apple iTunes Store. His musical influences range from jazz, fusion, blues and of course good 'ol rock and roll, baby!
Dante – comes originally from Ontario and has lived in Victoria for nearly 20 years.
Having been raised a stones throw from Motown, he appreciates a deep groove. He had his head in books for some time, constantly tapping on them, and so drumming was a natural outlet he eventually came to later in life.
