Rooster Jr. plays a mix of danceable classic country, western swing and rockabilly. We provide fun music played by veteran musicians that is suitable for all ages and venues.
I used the band for three different parties this summer. Great johnny cash style tunes, perfect for a sunny day bbq. Greg was responsive. Reasonable rate.
Rooster Jr did not disappoint. The set list was stellar and the band delivered. It was refreshing to hear these old songs done right. Greg and crew should be around for some time.
Vocals and Harmony were on point, drums and electric guitar were amazing. Great experience would pay too see them again. Very entertaining!
Drove to Chico to watch the debut performance of Rooster Jr., starring Greg Johnson. Amazing vocals reminiscent of the Man in Black himself, with wicked guitar solos, eloquent harmonies, and perfect percussion! If you love classic country, this is the band to get.

The audience can expect a fun time dancing to country and rockabilly's greatest classics from artists such as Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, the Everley Brothers, Lefty Frizzell, Bob Wills, Patsy Cline, and Ernest Tubb.
Greg Johnson is the singer and leader of Rooster Jr. Greg was very active in the Southern California music scene in the 1990's. After relocating to Northern California in 2000 and raising a family, Greg is back on the circuit, applying his rich baritone voice to classic country music. A variety of members fill the other spots in the band - all veteran, professional players.
The band is typically 4-5 members. We can bring our own PA system for small venues - only requiring adequate power. For mid-sized and large venues, we require two vocal mic stands (we bring our own microphones), mics for kick drum and snare, bass amp (mic'ed or direct) and mics for lead guitar and either steel guitar or fiddle. A monitor for the drummer and two to three monitors up front are also required in mid to large venues.
