Last night I had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Robert Baxt entertain a group of 60-70 folks in the Lakeside Village Clubhouse in Culver City. About half of the audience members were children under 10. It was a wonderful show. The last time I laughed that much must have been when I saw Bill Maher in concert. Robert's magical act, which incorporated many young assistants from the audience, reminded me of the show Kids say the Dandest thing, minus Bill Cosby of course. The things he had the kids saying just cracked me up. Robert has a quick wit that the children and parents really enjoy. It seemed he had an answer for every possible response from his volunteers. A side from all the laughs, his magic tricks were impressive, though sometimes too gimmicky for my taste, and included a magic money bucket, a book of fire, balancing a spinning plate on a long stick, causing a woman's palm to mysteriously develop a black spot, and much more. Given the chance I would like to see Robert perform again, and when my wife and son can come as well or for my niece's birthday party.
