What to Expect
Thomas speaks from the heart on issues of family life, and the trials and tribulations of parenting special needs children and adopted children. He brings the passion that can only be found from experiencing some of the hardest challenges of parenting these two tough categories of children.
When speaking on leadership, Thomas speaks from experience in dealing with tough external conditions, hard to handle employees, and demanding internal issues. Thomas provides insight into what a leader should be, and what a leader should do, if anything is going to get done. Thomas provides his perspective on creating a vision, transitioning from strategic thinking to tactical thinking, and inspiring team members.
Thomas has been in leadership roles in family, Boy Scouts, school, military, and private sector since he was 12 years old. He is a devoted husband and father, married to his wife for over 19 years. Together they have 2 biological children, 4 adopted children, and 1 foster child. All of their adopted and foster children are from family members that lost their way and couldn't take care of their children anymore. Thomas's story is unique because it involves the drug use of family members, and his and his wife's strong determination to keep their nieces and nephew with family. It is a story of tragedy, resolve, love, and beating the odds.
Beyond just his story of family strength, he is an accomplished leader. Thomas has led teams and projects in warzones and offices around the world, inspiring his team members to get projects done that many thought couldn't get done. His leadership philosophy is formed by his training as an Eagle Scout and his military training. Thomas reads many books on leadership, and his undergraduate degree was also in Leadership studies.
Thomas holds an MBA, has over 16 years experience in contract management, and is a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Influences & Inspiration
Thomas has listened to Les Brown and Tony Robbins time and time again for inspiration in the hardest times of his life. While he doesn't necessarily emulate these speakers, he holds them in high regard for their stories of resolve, determination, and faith.
