QED jazz is a piano trio based in Union County NJ. The nucleus of QED is composed of three seasoned NJ musicians who support their musical habits with day jobs infused with computers and numbers. This technical connection provides a rhythmic and harmonic pulse throughout their renderings of jazz standards, latin, and contemporary tunes. We've played professionally for years spanning small combos to big bands for concerts, shows, and private parties. As appropriate, our Trio is pleased to invite guests with a common musical vision to perform with us. We hope our music is as entertaining for you as it is for us.

>> Ed Warner, piano, keyboards
Born and bred in Newark, NJ, began study of classical and popular jazz music at 8 years of age. As a teen he was strongly influenced by bands of the era (Doors, BS&T, Chicago, Rascals) and played organ in rock ensembles throughout high school. Ed's diverse projects expanded in college to include a folk/prog-rock ensemble, popular blues/rock/jam bands, and many wedding/society bands. Evolving interests while pursing an MS in Biostatistics led to earnest self study, with styles drawn from strong and diverse influences such as Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea, Bill Evans and Oscar Petersen, Donald Fagan and Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell and Pat Metheny.
Over the past fifteen years, Ed's musical projects have included private parties/cocktail hours in solo, duo and trio formats, big band, pit bands for local theater, and jazz jam sessions.
Ed lives in Westfield NJ with his wife and two sons.
>> Mitch Germansky, drums and percussion
Age six starts studying drums with his dad, Al, the well-respected professional drummer and renowned teacher. Focused on classical percussion, jazz, and rock, he plays with various bands during his K-12 years. As a young teen he starts teaching drums and playing professionally while also performing with the NJ All-State High School Band and Orchestra, and the first All-State College Jazz Band. Mitch pursues a BA in Math and MS in Computer Science embarking on a journey as a computer scientist in the 70s. During the past 30 years he's devoted to computers, teaching, and drumming in diverse musical settings including jazz, rock, classical, shows, dance bands, club dates, and his newest foray into Scottish drumming. Mitch lives in Berkeley Heights, NJ with his wife, two children, and Frieda, the white whippet.
>> Alex Duque, bass
Born in Chile, but raised in NJ, Alex began his musical career playing trumpet in various school bands. After dabbling in classical guitar and piano, he taught himself to play electric bass after a long infatuation with the prominent bass lines in the music of Yes, Rush, The Who and others. While pursuing BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering, Alex developed a taste for Jazz, playing in several different ensembles. It was at this time that he was inspired by the revolutionary playing of Jaco Pastorius to pick up the fretless bass. Several years later after a long stint in a Jazz Quartet came to an end, he decided to venture into the world of upright bass, studying with Greg Cohen.
Over the past ten years, his abilities on different instruments and familiarity with different genres has led to a variety of steady gigs ranging anywhere from intimate Jazz trios to pit orchestras and Big Bands.
Alex lives in Hillsborough, NJ with his wife and two daughters.
