25 Years experience!
Mark played our daughters wedding this past weekend at Elora Mill, Highly professional and nothing but fabulous complements from our guests. He was prepared for everything weather wise as there were warnings of rain, snow and high winds. Highly professional and great communication. Simply the best!
Very professional - he returned messages and even called in the day before the event to confirm that everything was good to go. Playing was wonderful. We will definitely contact again in the future - thank you for everything!
Mark was wonderful!
We hired Mark to play the bagpipes during our wedding ceremony. He was absolutely fantastic. He knew exactly where he wanted to set up so that he could time the song to the pace of the bridesmaids walking down the aisle. He played an elegant soft melody during our registration signing and led us out of the ceremony with a wonderful upbeat tune! Mark was early for the event and communication before and during the event was excellent! Thanks again Mark!
It was a secret from most of the people and the experience was amazing. I am so very pleased. Thankyou
Thank you for your help to celebrate our Scottish heritage and bring a sense of joy to my family during my Grandma’s Celebration of Life!
Mark arrived early in full dress. His performance was outstanding, guests enjoyed his music very much. Very professional. Mark made last minute changes to our program and was happy to do so. I would definitely recommend Mark.
Mark's performance was excellent, it personally moved us and created a beautiful ambiance. It was beyond our expectations. Thank you Mark for gracing us with your talent.
We threw a surprise wedding for our family and friends and I surprised my fiance with a piper. Mark was fantastic, on time, professional and accommodating. Would recommend Mark for sure!
Thank you Mark for you lovely tunes to help us celebrate the life of our dear grandmother. Mark was professional, on-time and a great bagpiper.
Mark was absolutely fantastic. He contacted us a couple of times prior to the event to ensure that he fully understood the mission. He arrived on time, prepared and smartly attired in full Scottish dress. Mark helped to make our father's day very special. A very professional and kind gentleman. Thank you so very much Mark!!
From beginning to end, Mark was both professional and personable. Excellent communication throughout, from the initial quote to the day of the event. He arrived early and started exactly on time. He sounded fantastic and looked every inch the part. My family was absolutely delighted. If you're looking for a Piper/Celtic musician, look no further, Mark is your man. Highly recommend!
An absolute incredible experience, Mark knew our venue very well, was helpful offering suggestions, Mark was on time and on point to make our daughters wedding go off without a hitch. Mark was in full traditional Scottish attire. He was very personable and accommodating. I would definitely recommend Mark. He was fantastic and a gentleman. Our guests were very impressed. Would definitely hire Mark again for our next event. Thank you so much for our making our da so very special!
Mark was great to work with and accommodated our specific music requests. Mark helped us out at the last minute by bringing some items needed for our ceremony that we had forgotten about. I would definitely hire him again.
Mark was the cherry on the top of our family’s celebration when we all gathered for the first time since Covid had separated us all. We, as a family, have had an extremely hard year with the lock down. We were devastated by the loss of our mother in February, and the inability to gather together to mourn her loss. It’s been heartbreaking watching our 91 year old father navigate through his life without her, as well as the challenges his declining health has presented. Since recently entering Long Term Care, we wanted to do something for him to celebrate him and to lift his spirits. We decided to meet in a gorgeous conservation area which would provide adequate space to social distance and the opportunity to finally see each other. With dad being a fan of the bagpipes, we thought hiring a live performer would make his day! Mark made his entrance EXACTLY on the agreed upon time, and entertained us with a lovely selection of tunes. His entrance was powerful and emotional for us all. The sound of the pipes reverberating through the trees was something you just had to experience to appreciate. He was pleasant and accommodating as we asked him to pose with our father for pictures. While keeping with Covid guidelines, he interacted with our family and just made himself at home with us. He played two more sets of music before he made an equally impactful exit which left us wanting more. Mark is an exceptional piper and we highly recommend him!
Response from Piper/Celtic Musician, Music of the Highlands:
Very kind words Lisa. I was pleased to be able to provide some music for your family, but I must admit it is always special when I get the chance to play for a fellow piper like your father. I wish all of you a year of joy and good health.
Much thanks
We couldn't be happier with our piper Mark Fletcher! We held a memorial for my father and though it was a small informal gathering, Mark brought dignity and formality to our event. We told Mark we didn't want it to be a somber occasion (my father was anything but somber) and Mark's choice of music was perfect!
Thank you so much,
Lea and family
I couldn’t be more happy with Mark and his performance. I provided him with a demo track and a basic idea of what I was looking for. Mark showed up on time with a couple variations of the theme I wanted. He played multiple instruments and came up with different parts for each. What a truly talented artist and so generous. I would highly recommend Mark for whatever the event you have. He’s a true professional.
Mark happily piped our daughter into the family home wearing a full wooly garb during a heat wave for a small surprise graduation ceremony with family. He played the songs requested beautifully, was punctual, professional, and an absolutely delightful guy. His presence added a unique touch of class to our party and I do hope that he'll grace us with his talents again in the future. Thank-you so much Mark - what a memorable event.
Mark was an Excellent choice. We booked him for Father's Day. My Dad was in awe that a piper was playing just for him. A great selection of our requested "happy music" and really did a good job.
I would recommend Mark the Piper to anyone.
Thank you for your time and talent Sir.
Mark, has given me the best quote amongst all the vendor and was willing to accommodate my request, He called me one day before discussed on how to give surprise, what time he needs to be there and what should be played. he was at the location at the right time started to play at the right time. he came in the scottish attire and was a thorough gentleman, When ever if i need to organize such even i will request for Mark only.
I am happy with Gig Salad service
Mark’s bagpipes were the perfect accompaniment to our father’s memorial service, a remembrance for him and 18 others from Queen’s Garden Long Term Care who are no longer with us. Mark, we the families can’t thank you enough!
Mark was awesome!! He showed up on time, came in full Scottish attire and played beautifully!! I would highly recommend Mark!
Mark thank you very much for sharing your talents and generosity. I got a feeling right from our first contact that you were the guy. You expressed a great interest in my vision, never once crowing about yourself.
Mark is a total pro, we had a lot of communication before the session so he had a very good idea of what I wanted and he had a very good music plan to follow. He showed up on time, set up right away and played a few different ideas to give us some options. He went beyond what I asked him to do. Ranks right up their with some of the best pro session players I've hired in the past. I would hire him again without any hesitation and I hope that our paths cross again someday at an event of some kind!! Good luck Mark and all the best!!
I highly recommend Mark. He showed up in full uniform and marched in pipping as part of a surprise for my wife on Mother's day. It was a great show!
Did a great job! He brought tears to our residents eyes. They enjoyed his performance very much.
Thanks Mark. Highly recommend him as a piper.
Mark did excellent job. His performance really surprised our Mother on her 90th birthday.
Mark was very approachable and connected with myself regarding the event.
Mark's playing was absolutely the highlight of my outdoor wedding ceremony - apart from getting hitched to my lovely wife, of course. His performance, in full regalia, was pitch-perfect and provided our ceremony with a little pomp and circumstance. Prior to the day, Alison was a little apprehensive about having a piper announce her arrival (a little self-conscious, perhaps). But afterward, she told me, stepping out of the car to Mark's playing and having him lead her to the gazebo just made her feel at home (she's from Nova Scotia, and none of her family could be there because of Covid restrictions). Mark's mandola playing during the signing had all our guests tapping their feet.
Thanks again Mark. We were so happy to have had you there.
Dennis
Very good
Response from Piper/Celtic Musician, Music of the Highlands:
Thank you for the review Chris. It's very kind of you. I felt bad that the rain moved in so quickly and crashed the event. I was just starting to get things going with the Mandola when it hit and as you know instruments of that nature just can't get even damp or it will ruin them. Maybe next time I'm in the area I can drop in and do a short follow up for you. Much thanks again, Mark
Mark was great the music was fabulous

We had Mark come to our Mom's house for her 90th Birthday. Due to the Covid-19 we had to cancel her planned celebration with family and friends. Her one birthday wish was to have a piper. I am in Alberta and had no idea what was available in her area in Woodstock. I found this GIG alad site and put in my request. Thank you Mark for answering and doing such a great gig. You were so accommodating and so pleasant to deal with. From our Family to yours, Thank you and stay safe!
My mother requested a Piper for her burial service.
Mark showed up early, to review the order of the service. Mark's playing was very good.
I hired Mark to play at my grandpa's 95th birthday. He was well organized, provided great suggestions as it was inside a restaurant party room, flexible and provided a memorable performance. Growing up I have fond memories of bag pipes being played at special occasions (wedding, anniversaries, funerals, birthdays) and Mark's performance was perfect for this occasion and he has provided our family a new memory! Everyone loved the music. I would highly recommend Mark for any event.
My family and I would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mark for his excellent accompaniment as we laid a loved one to rest. Mark arrived to the site earlier than expected in order to familiarize himself with the area and to speak with us regarding the service. He came in full Highland regalia and stood as a solemn honour guard of the ceremony. Mark’s many years of piping experience ensured he knew each of the songs we had selected, and each one of them was played beautifully. Mark helped bring a little taste of Scotland for all attending, and he comes highly recommended. Please do consider him for your next event, as you will not be disappointed.
Mark was amazing. He showed up prior to the service. He was in full dress, and his playing was beautiful. Most of all, he stood as a man of honour, and gave my father the perfect send off. I would highly recommend him.
Thanks Mark!
Mark arrived early and did exactly what asked plus more.
Mark was accommodating, pleasant and professional. He is a very skilled musician. He was open to any suggestions we had for our wedding. He really added the special touch we were looking for to our day. We enjoyed working with him and will definitely contact him again should the occasion arise.
Mark was a pleasure to deal with right the start to the finish. He has very professional and new what to do at the funeral.
The piping was wonderful and song selection perfect. Everyone was touched and had many people approach me stating how good it was to have Manny (the deceased) pipped home. Thank you Mark for being part of the family for the day.
Mark was wonderful. He arrived early and made suggestions that improved our ceremony. His playing was great and he marched down the aisle as me and my bride exited. I couldn’t recommend him more!
Thanks Mark!
The music provided was for the celebration of life and interment of my parents, on what would have been their 77th wedding anniversary. It was wonderful - the three pieces provided were touching - particularly Amazing Grace, played while those assembled laid poppies at the grave site in tribute. Thank you so, so much, Mark - your mastery of the pipes, and your full uniform, indeed added to the dignity and respect I wanted to pay my parents.
Although my original pick of using Mark did not pan out. He quickly found a replacement that was fantastic and helped me make my wedding day truly spectacular.
Thank you for picking Les Brunton for me.
Using gigsalad to find exactly what I was looking for was sooo easy
Our residents enjoyed the musical entertainment that was provided for our Irish Luncheon. The residents were clapping their hands to the lively music and shedding tears to the sad ones like "Danny Boy". Residents who don't usually partake in programs thoroughly enjoyed the music. They enjoyed that he played a variety of instruments (mandolin, Irish Pipers and the wooden little flute thing) and he did that for all six shows.
Mark was comfortable making his way around the room and interacting with the residents (especially those those on our dementia home are).Excellent song selection.
I hired Mark to perform as a final tribute for my Uncle, a WW2 vet and great man. He was accommodating and very personable and friendly. Very much appreciated by all who attended. Laurie
A huge thank you to Mark for making our wedding day so special. We wanted to surprise our family with traditional Scottish music and having Mark play for our guests as they arrived made the setting immediately beautiful and welcoming. As I arrived, my tears of joy immediately started as I heard him playing and saw him dressed so lovely. It was everything I wanted and more!! Thank you Mark so much for everything!!
Mark was more than just great, he helped get our wedding ceremony organized with the officiant and helped communicate with our bridal party for the walk down the aisle. I am more than grateful to have had such a wonderful person as part of our special day. Mark made our day that much more amazing, he played beautifully and all our guests loved the surprise of him playing.
Mark was not only on time but early and had looked at the venue and figured our where he was going to play for the ceremony. He made it so that I as the Bride had nothing to worry about but walking down the aisle. I would recommend him for any occasion and hope that everyone gets to enjoy his playing as much as our guests and our wedding party did. My now husband and I are so thankful for how amazing he was.
Mark was very professional, prompt, courteous and a first class person. He showed up before time, was prepared and remained until the end. Everyone was impressed by him. On a personal note, it was the finest sight to behold as the hearse drove in to the Resurrection Cemetery. My wife would have liked this very much. I will definitely call on him again for her celebration of life event. Thank you for this great service.
Mark did a great job as piper at our wedding. The venue was small and the pipes music "fit" the room very well.
We hired Mark to play at our wedding ceremony in May 2017, as a tribute to my late father and my families' Scottish roots! He was amazing! So professional, lovely music selections.
He looked and sounded great! He really made our wedding ceremony very memorable for us! Look no further and just hire this guy, he's a gem!
Mark was amazing
He did so well he made everyone cry!
With only one day's notice Mark performed at my Father's funeral. It was tremendously moving. He was always professional, whether making arrangements or dealing with 4 daughters. He was prompt, dressed in full regalia and fulfilled a wish of our Dad's. Our thanks go to him. The Conner Family
Piper played beautifully. He knew exactly when to start playing and was proactive in serving the ceremony. My only confusion came when I was quoted on the cost for roughly 30 minutes of playing and was told the night before that the piper would play five to ten minutes. Given that it was my Grandfather's funeral, I was in no mood to barter and just gave in.
Response from Piper/Celtic Musician, Music of the Highlands:
I am very sorry for the confusion Lindsay. There must have been some misunderstanding about the length. My conversation with the Funeral Director ,Minister and one of your family members before the service indicated a different scenario. My apologies.
Thank you Mark for your excellent communications, helpful suggestions, and beautiful heart felt playing. You added dimension and resonance to the Celebration of Dad's life.
It was a big hit and very easy to organize from 3000 miles away. It made her day very special.
Mark played the pipes and whistle beautifully at our father's burial. He was very sensitive to our needs and most helpful making the music selections. He really helped to make the occasion special for our family.
Our wedding was extra special because of our piper celtic musician Mark, the music he played was perfect, he was incredible. Our guest loved it and I am super happy with the way it turned out. I would definitely recommend him for your event!
The piping was stirring and added to our occasion beautifully. Many thanks.
I want to thank Mark for playing an integral part in making my daughters wedding perfect.
I recommend him to anyone and everyone.
Sincerely thank you.
If you're looking for a high class easy to work with Piper, Mark is definitely your guy!!! Thanks for adding such a wonderful element to our wedding day, we will treasure the Scottish joyful notes always!
Kim and Colin
Mark arrived early and piped our guests in to be seated. After I walked down the aisle and the vows he played a lovely flute while we signed the refisted and piped us out after we were married! He was fantastic!! I would highly recommend his services for any event!
Thank you so much Mark you made our wedding day that much more special!
Absolutely touching performance for a wake in the country. When I read his reviews I must admit I had very high expectations and was not prepared for Mark to exceed them but his talent and professionalism truly make him extraordinary. His repertoire of music and depth of talent on each instrument made the day very memorable for all those who attended.
Mark of Music of the Highlands was the perfect choice for our Memorial. It was an added bonus that he knew of my brother who was a piper. Mark was professional, personable, easy to work with, and adapted to our needs in the moment. He knew all the pieces I had asked for, played a variety of Celtic instruments, and had a very good intuition about other options. He is an excellent choice for a piper for any occasion.
I also recommend GigSalad. It is a very good service for bringing together musicians and people looking for them. Thank you.
Mark played beautifully for our son's wedding. He was very helpful suggesting appropriate music choices, arrived on time, piped outside the church before the ceremony in ridiculously hot weather, wearing the full regalia, piped the couple out of the church after the ceremony, and outside the church until the guests left. Great service and value. Couldn't ask for more!
Mike's playing made my mom's memorial.Everyone who attended was very deeply touched.
Although our event and the time we spent with Mark was short, he met our expectations. He was kind, professional, accommodating and played beautifully.
I would highly recommend him for any occasion to do with a piper or Celtic music.
"Thank you Mark, for making our last goodbyes to my grandmother a meaningful one through your music - I'm sure she loved it!"
Mark truly made our special day memorable with his vast arsenal of musical talents. He started the day by welcoming guests with some classy tenor mandola until the ceremony began. He piped the wedding party in and out of the ceremony and it was extremely impactful. Mark is great communicator and was a pleasure to work with. He's a professional and will ensure your event is one to remember. We wouldn't hesitate to utilize Mark again, a class act.
Mark was excellent. He called ahead to make sure of directions, he was on time and his performance was excellent. I asked if he would say a few words and present a couple of awards and he did so. He looked good and spoke well. I would definitely use Mark's services again and would recommend him to anybody.
