Phoebe Holston has been enjoying her life!
She has appeared in TV (Private Practice, Without A Trace), Film (“Zodiac” with Jake Gyllenhall, “Rushlights” with Beau Bridges and “The Anna Nicole Story” with Agnes Bruckner and Virginia Madsen ) and Commercials; having filmed over 30 regional, national and international commercials including Honda, Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Alka Seltzer, Fannie Mae and Kmart (directed by Spike Lee.) Ms. Holston also graces the pages of magazines, billboards and the web as a commercial print model and is featured in ads for Coca Cola, Microsoft, Betty Crocker, Zyrtec and Breast Cancer Awareness to name a few.
Ms. Holston began her journey to Los Angeles as a starry-eyed and ambitious makeup artist by way of North Carolina. She soon began building a name for herself and accomplishing a childhood dream of becoming a successful Hollywood makeup artist. Ms. Holston has lovingly painted the faces of actors, singers, dancers, comedians, etc. for film, TV, stage, music videos and editorial shoots. She has worked with a host of celebrities including Quincy Jones, Meatloaf, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Paula Poundstone, Freddie Jackson, Angela Bassett, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Jenifer Lewis. Ms. Holston equally enjoys working behind the camera as well as in front.
Ms. Holston also authored a beauty column simply titled “Phoebe's Beauty Secrets” for a local Los Angeles magazine “Dysonna”. The opportunity to write a beauty column introduced Ms. Holston to another creative outlet that she found immensely fulfilling and is now writing her first book.
Ms. Holston’s outgoing personality and her love and knowledge of the artful and skillful use of makeup prompted a former agent to ask her to teach his clients how to do their own makeup for their auditions. As an actor, she knew, firsthand, the lighting situation in casting studios. This generous and very smart request led to the beginning of another profession, Personal Makeup Instructor. Ms. Holston enjoys the personal interaction with her clients and the stolen moments to feel like young girls playing with makeup.
Among her talents as an actor, model and makeup artist, writer and instructor, Ms. Holston also possesses the skills of an Executive/Personal Assistant. She’s worked for Adilah Barnes (Actor, Author, Acting and Writing Instructor, Co-founder of The Los Angeles Women's Theatre Festival and proprietor of The Writer's Well in Sharpsburg, GA) and for Virgil H. Hodges (Former VP of New York City Dept. of Labor and Co-founder of the Atlanta Voters United). Ms. Holston’s clients have glowingly praised her on her work ethic, professionalism and quick study. Ms. Holston currently works part-time as office manager for the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival.
