I am a solo Musician who plays a variety of beautiful Jazz Standards, Instrumental Pop and Smooth R&B songs that we all recognize and love. I use, Quality backing tracks that give the texture and feel of a live band. I have my own, Quality sound system that can quickly be set up(10-12min) I have the flexibility to play at small venues that have limited space and/or "Noise" concerns or larger venues. I play in situations where I am prominent as well as situations where a smooth background ambiance is what is needed. When appropriate, I do interact with the crowd and every seat is a good seat. People go away feeling better than when they arrived. I love what I do and it shows.
Honestly, I've hired Paul about 4 or 5 times so far, his style is suitable all occasions and ages. I recently had Paul perform for my wedding reception during cocktail hour and all of the guest raved on how good the saxophone player was and the song selections were perfect. There is nothing better than live music, he was actually better than the DJ I had. Paul, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making out day a very special one.
Mr. & Mrs. Carter
Response from Paul MacFarland:
Thank you both so much. I was honoured to be chosen by you two to play on your day. Congratulations to you both. I really think the world of you two and I'm so happy to have been a part of your wedding day.
I would like to thank Paul for making our Wedding memorable. We were all captivated by his performance. Guests were serenaded by romantic jazz music . Me and my hubby are so privileged to have witnessed his talent. Very professional!!! 5 star performance! Thanks so much Paul. I would highly recommend him in any of your special events!😊
We loved having Paul perform for our Mom's Birthday Party last night! His sax really sets the vibe for the whole event. I would definitely recommend him for anyone looking for a saxophone player, or even if you're just considering some form of music or live entertainment, you won't be disappointed! He was very professional and personable and everyone loved his music! Thanks Paul!!!
I must say, at first I had doubts with on-line booking, but the website is easy to navigate. Once I was connected with Paul to narrow down specifics, I could tell he was knowledgeable & a professional musician. While texting he was very responsive and most of all affordable. Sometimes it's difficult for musicians to connect with their audience, but not the case here! Paul's style of playing really show-cased his talent for music (R&B, Soul & Jazz). I love how he can take a well-known classic song and make it his own.
Will definitely book you again. Thank you again Paul for making my 60th Birthday party special.
Response from Paul MacFarland:
Thank you Dede. It was a Wonderful time. I wish I could have stayed longer.

Paul entertained my guests while we did photos and I must say everyone loved him and his awesome talents! Thank you for doing such a wonderful job and making my planning and big day stress free and amazingly memorable. I'm hoping you're available on our 1st anniversary it would be an honor to have you play for us again!
Thank you so much
Liz and Jesse Smith

A Phenomenal Experience! It was our first time using Gigsalad and working with Mr. MacFarland. Gigsalad, should be honored to have someone of this caliber representing their brand. Paul is extremely talented, affordable, very responsive and an experienced entertainer. I wanted to ask him for an autograph, lol. We allowed him to use his expertise with setting the ambiance from the energy of our guest and it was the best decision we could have made. Paul's bio and PR video presentation represents a man of character & integrity and someone who has the tenacity to go after their dream but above all else, he is so personable that he can engaged with your family & friends which is priceless. The total 5-Star package in every area. Paul MacFarland, we'll see you at the top!!
I hired Paul for my birthday party 2 years in a row!! Yes he is that good!! The sounds of his smooth jazz made me feel like I was in heaven. He made me feel really special as he serenaded me through out the night. My guest were so impressed. Working with Paul was very pleasant, he is professional, communicates well and the music selection was perfect for the occasion. Thank you Paul for making my birthday one of the best and memorable moments.

What to Expect
I offer a smooth, clean musical performance that is very true to the songs that I'm playing. No, 5 minute saxophone solos. As appropriate, I walk thought the crowd, playing to everyone so everyone is involved and feels the experience. My music is more on the mellow side, though there are some blues and upbeat songs that people could dance to, if they were inclined to.
I grew up in a musical family with many family members who played instruments, so I was exposed to music a a very early age. I started playing the saxophone when I was a Sr. in High School(1985) and took lessons from a very fine musician, Sapphron Obios in the SF Bay Area for a couple of years. I continued to grow as a musician while in a Top 40 band that had a small horn section...Fun!! I was the front-man to another Smooth Jazz group, while still playing in the Top 40 group throughout the 90's.
I got married in 91' and expanded out family in 94'(Son) and 97'(Daughter). With this added responsibility, I dropped out of the bands and focused on my career. I never stopped playing and would retreat into my garage after a stressful day at the office to play my saxophone for an hour or two regularly. With the economic downturn of 2000, I was forced to sell my instruments, one-by-one(Tenor, Soprano, Alto). I sold my last instrument(Alto sax) in 2007...traumatic to say the least. With no musical outlet for about 2 years, I purchased a guitar on Craigslist hoping to sound like Earl Klugh or Peter White. Didn't work out too well. After much frustration, I reached out to my cousin Teodross Avery(Saxophonist) and it turns our that he had a couple of horns that were gathering dust in his closet. In time I had another sax...Yess!!!Because of my, nearly 3 year layoff, I went back to the "drawing board" and practiced harder than I ever did for 2 years. I started to build a musical repertoire of about 2hrs of music. I started playing professionally in the Sacramento Area in Feb of 2013 when I got a break and because the members of their house band had the flu. I got to open for another band at Marilyn's on K St. Since then I have played at restaurants, Wineries, Happy hour, Anniversaries, Birthday Parties, backyard BBQ's...anywhere people want to have beautiful music that they enjoy and relate to being played. Last year in the summer of 2015 I broke onto the "Winery Circuit" in Lodi, playing at Vicarmont Winery, Van Ruiten Winery and Husick's Winery.
Additional Booking Notes
I have a 1000 watt sound system with the following components:
1- Behringer, 12 channel mixer with effects
1- Wireless Microphone with bell clip
2- 15" Mackie Thump loudspeakers with stands
1- Mic Stand and a SM57 mic for talking to the audience
I prefer to bring my own system because I know how to set it up, unless the venue has an experienced sound person.
It only takes me 10-12 minutes to set this up and another couple of minutes to do a soundcheck.
With the flexibility that I provide, I can set up in a small area 6'X6' or an entire stage.
