About
Paper Steamboat is – Tommy Chadwick – Guitar/Vocals, a New Orleans native, originally sculptured in Southern rock and jazz guitar, he has spent his earlier years playing in various classic rock, southern rock, and blues bands in the New Orleans and Gulf Coast region. With the influence of prominent musicians of the ‘60’s and ‘70’s, helped define his playing style. He has worked with groups such as J. J. Muggler and Sho-Tyme. He has recently been inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame for his work with the J. J. Muggler Band. Jimmy Messa – Bass/Vocals, a New Orleans native, started playing music at the age of 13 and began his music career playing on Bourbon Street. He has worked with many popular national and international talents along with joining the Subdudes in 2002. Mike Margiotta, Keys/Vocals, a New Orleans native has been in the music scene for over 30 years and worked with some of the best in the city…Gary Hirstius, Marva Wright, The Wiseguys, Sho-Tyme, Dean Darling and the Wanderers, and The Junior Mays Band. He has also worked with Bo Diddley and Dick Wagner (guitarist and songwriter - Alice Cooper). Some of his accomplishments include session work on Gary Hirstius' "Down River" CD, which was voted one of the best new releases in New Orleans in 2004. Shane Matherne, Drums/Percussion/Vocals, began his entertainment career in the music industry at the early age of 12 working with The Young Dreamers and Spectrum performing throughout Louisiana and Mississippi. At the age of 19, Shane was invited to join, with the already established 'progressive rock' band, Kolour, where the band toured extensively throughout Eastern US and opened for a number of prominent national talents. He has also worked in the acting and modeling side of the entertainment business which took him to New York, San Francisco, & Los Angeles, working in stage plays, television, and film. Upon the return to the New Orleans area, music once again became part of his daily activity. And the beat goes on...
Paper Steamboat has hit the clubs and event circles with their powerhouse, yet elegant rock performance, with the all-inclusive acknowledgment from show attendees, music community friends/peers, and local critics alike voicing a unified, "thumbs up" for this hot newly re-incarnated act. After just their first show, the band wowed pundits and critics showing immediate promise via their inherited bloodline, boasting a potent catalog of incendiary rock A & B-side selections. Deftly moving from Jimi Hendrix to The Allman Brothers, Jethro Tull to The Beatles, and Joe Cocker to The Rolling Stones, Paper Steamboat proves that hip hop beats and sampling are better left to others. They've resuscitated the small rock show and are drawing larger crowds with music and vocal performances boasting swagger, sweat, and energy.
The band's popularity has continued to grow, securing the band dates on the same stage, venues, and events with familiar local groups. Since the band's stage baptism in the Fall of 2012, they have headlined noteworthy main stage appearances at events such as The Alligator Festival (est. attendance 3,000 ) in Luling, LA - with dozens of additional shows booked through the end of 2014.
In a short time, Paper Steamboat has made their mini-concert shows a "must see" for those requiring a much-needed booster shot to combat the rock music scene's bout of lethargy. When an injection of super-charged rock is what you need to get up…
There’s a new way to get down – Paper Steamboat.
