We can play at your club, wedding reception or private party. Most of our songs are upbeat.
We serve up a tasty meal of mostly bluegrass with a little classic country, blues, French Canadian, and folk on the side. Acoustic guitar, mandolin, fiddle and bass mix for the hot bluegrass of “Orange Blossom Special,” cry-in-your-beer country like Patsy Cline’s “Sweet Dreams” and blues like “Walkin’ the Dog.” No cover song is sacred – we bluegrass it up on “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and Pachelbel’s “Canon in D.” We are a versatile award winning fiddler, a seasoned blues/folk musician, a touring singer-songwriter and a rock-steady bass player steeped in bluegrass but not afraid to tackle other genres. We’re experienced, fun and we bring our own hot sauce.
Mandolin player-guitarist-singer and songwriter Jamie Anderson toured nationally in the states for over 20 years and has also played in Canadian venues like Rasputin’s and the Black Sheep Inn. A recent immigrant, she is originally from Arizona by way of North Carolina. She loves poutine and is trying very hard to learn French. Bonjour y’all.
Holding down the low end on stand-up bass is Jim Bossert. His first instrument was the piano but since it’s real hard to play “Old Joe Clark” on one, he switched to bass a few years ago. He frequently sits in on folk and bluegrass jams; he loves whatever challenge they throw his way.
Ottawa native Tracy Clark is a singer/guitarist who has performed and recorded with many local blues, rock and country bands for over thirty years, including Hickory Wind. He’s also done a lot of solo work and has hosted several open stages. Known for his lightening fast blues licks, he also burns it up in other genres although we’ve never heard him play a polka.
Kyle Burghout began playing the fiddle at the age of five, studying various styles including Canadian, Celtic, bluegrass, and classical. He regularly competes at fiddle competitions and has been a finalist at many of them, including the Canadian Junior Championship in Shelburne, ON and at Canada's largest fiddle competition in Pembroke, ON. Kyle is currently completing his Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Ottawa, while playing with the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra.
We require four mikes on boom stands, a bass amp, and an 8 channel PA with speakers. We can also bring our own system for an extra fee. A stage is nice but we can do without one if you have an area big enough for a four piece band. If indoors or at night, we'd like lighting directed at the stage area.
