Legit. A pleasure to work with.
The event was a Lutheran worship service with full liturgy and choir anthem. Ministers, choir director and congregation members really liked Matthew. I have already hired him back for a second weekend when I needed to be away. He had to learn a new liturgy for that second weekend and it went great. The choir director asked him to play an anthem other than the one I gave him in advance. He didn't have any problem with sight reading a new piece Sunday morning. I am sure I will be calling him again!
Played preludes, and Christmas songs for 3 masses. Did a fine job for what we needed him to do!
I hired Matthew Grittner because I had worked with him before and knew he could handle a difficult show on very short notice. He was professional, helpful, and an excellent performer. Will definitely look at him first future events!
French Creek Theatre had a 5 song set from Jekyll & Hyde the musical for the Lorain FireFish Festival in September and we needed a pianist player very last minute due to unforeseen circumstances. Matt was able to play for us on very short notice.
We had less than an hour to go over the music being performed and Matt was able to sightread each song incredibly well and go over tempos with the performers.
As a result of Matt's skill, the gig went great. Highly recommend!
Response from Organist, Pianist, Conductor, Director!:
Thanks for the feedback, Michael! Working with you and Angela was a blast!

What to Expect
Early, clear communication. Catered to fit your needs (happy to perform as a primary focus as well as in the background). Able to collaborate with all musicians of all levels. Able to "teach" as needed for vocalists who are more by-ear than by-the-sheet-music to ensure we give the best collaborative performance possible. Passionate musician who is fun to watch and work with. Flexible to all situations and keyboard instruments, including last minute adjustments within reason. Experience with all sorts of solo instrumentalists and vocalists that reads clearly in rehearsal (if needed) and performance. Commands attention as soloist when appropriate, shares the stage gladly with fellow artists, melts into the background as needed for cocktail hours, etc. Variety of repertoire from all periods of music, able to meet almost any requests with advance notice.
