Kirin played at my wedding and brought tears to my eyes, it was so beautiful. She played with a string trio for processional and recessional and then played my favorite cello solo - Bach G major Suite Prelude - as an interlude in the ceremony. Some things that I loved about working with Nouvelle Sagesse:
- Exquisite music
- Communication before hand was excellent, both in terms of logistics and working with me to plan exactly the kind of music I wanted.
- They started and stopped a the perfect time for seamless and beautiful transitions throughout the ceremony.
- I didn't need to do anything in terms of greeting them or helping them set up -- they knew exactly where to place themselves so that they would be heard well but out of the way. This is so important when you are a bride and have a million things to take care of - they knew just what to do.
Congratulations to everyone out there planning a wedding!
Kirin at Nouvelle Sagesse was a pleasure to work with. I contacted her about providing music for an anniversary party I threw for my parents. I had never hired a cello player before, but Kirin made the process easy. She responded promptly to phone calls and emails, and was clear about what kind of music would work for her instrument, which I really appreciated. On the night itself, her presence was gracious and professional. Having a live cello player made the evening so special and memorable. Many guests commented on how beautiful the music was. I would recommend Kirin to any friend looking to add live music to an event.

Hi! I'm Kirin and I'm the founder of Sagesse NYC.
I started Sagesse because I was dismayed by the lack of quality and organization that I observed while working as a cellist for different private event contractors in New York.
More often than not, I noticed that the music quality and therefore the event quality was compromised due to lack of organization and care from music contractors— in interactions with clients and guests, in how musicians dressed, and in the music curation. As a musician, it made my job less fun, too.
With a background in hospitality and in running an arts program, I realized that I had a skill set that could help elevate the experience of hiring live music services– for both our clients as well as my fellow musicians.
Because while your event is about you and your guests, the time, energy, and money that you invest in creating those memories deserves to go towards creating something that is built to last, too.
And as for our name? It means "wisdom" :)
