Based in Dallas, The Nick McLean Jazztet is influenced by the bluesy, funky, and rock oriented music of hard-bop and current jazz artist such as Lee Morgan, Roy Hargrove, Clifford Brown, Freddie Hubbard, and Herlin Riley.
The band, which is currently is staffed by musicians all holding bachelors and masters degrees is from North Texas University, is currently in the process of adding original compositions in anticipation of a live recording session this season.
In addition to shows at bars, we commonly play local restaurants, wine bars, clubs, and private events!
I hosted a party at a beautiful home and had these guys play for a few hours. They were very professional, punctual, super nice and played great music! Everyone at the party enjoyed them. They were also super easy to work with. Will hire these guys again!!
Response from Nick McLean Jazztet:
Thank you so much for the kind words and positive review! It was a pleasure playing for you and your guests. We very much look forward to working together again in the future.
Enjoy your Holiday Season!
All the best,
Perfect! They were wonderfully appropriate, and I had comments that this was the best memorial many had been to!
Response from Nick McLean Jazztet:
Thank you so much for your kind words and excellent review. It was such an honor to play for your friends and family. We felt such a warm welcome and really enjoyed being a part of it.
Please keep us in mind for future ventures.
We wish you the best over the holiday season!
Nick McLean Jazztet
Nick was very easy to get a hold of and to work with. Our Dinner Party was a success because of his band.
Great addition to our Mardi Gras Party
Nick McLean’s Jazztet provided beautiful holiday music for our Holiday Open House! They enhanced the party atmosphere, but weren’t overbearing. Everyone enjoyed the music and could still have a conversation. I highly recommend them!
Nick and band did a wonderful job. Very well mannered and dressed. Played excellent. The family or I could not of asked for better. I would give them 10 stars if able. Highly recommend. Nick you have a great spring to your step awesome.
I first found these guys playing a jazz night out in town and was blown away by their passion and talent. I thought I'd go out in a limb and see if I could book them for a private event at my daughter's school. Not only was Nick extremely kind, accommodating, and prompt but they set the perfect tone at our event. I was amazed at the versatility of the music, but that's the mark of a true artist! The ability to capture and elevate the mood. I can't recommend them enough and look forward to working with them throughout the years to come!
What to Expect
Our performance and services vary depending on what is needed. Typically, the band will fit the mood of the room and play to what is needed for the audience to enjoy themselves.
Late night club gigs will call for music that lets the crowd dance, groove, and enjoy high energy music!
Our standard show mixes a varied repertoire of jazz genres that lets audiences enjoy a conversation or dance while listening to the band.
We also play music that is meant to be enjoyed with dinner, coffee, or drinks. Music that is casual, calmer, and easy to have a conversation throughout.
The venue or event will depict what the band will play, meaning the smaller venues may call for a smaller band!
Starting at a local bar in Denton, the band has managed to expand and share our music throughout the DFW area playing wine bars, late dance clubs, brunches, restaurants, private events, and local festivals. Staffed by some of the hardest swinging players in Dallas, the band has just completed its first long term, weekly, residency at a local establishment in Dallas this last summer/fall. Currently, the band is expanding its reach to play more private events and festivals in addition to our regular venues.
Additional Booking Notes
We have sound equipment and our instruments. All we need is to be told where to set up, and some light - depending on the venue.
