About
Small town rapper Mike Rod is on the fast track to his big dreams as a premier rapper from Big Spring Texas. A native of this self-proclaimed "Ghost Town," Mike Rod pulls a lot of his inspiration from it's desolation and abandoned buildings. He explains, " In bigger cities, it's not uncommon to have musicians and entertainers trying to make moves, but in my area it's rare especially for a rap artist." Mike Rod sites artists like Bone Thugs-n-Harmony and Tupac as his very first musical influences brought to his ears by his older brother. Growing up, he was surrounded by rap and hip-hop which no doubt shaped the artist audiences applaud today. Not a stereotypical "bling" rapper, Mike Rod rhymes about "real life situations and things I've gone through." Priding himself on a strong work ethic and vast knowledge of the music business, 50 Cent is one of his ethical and business idols.
Writing rhymes since the fourth grade, Mike Rod finally decided as a freshman in college to start recording his music for people to hear. This now 21 year old has 4 albums under his belt entitled Going For The Prize In The Cereal Box, Guerilla Tactics, The Countdown, and Spaceship Chronicles. His most recent track highlights include "Let's Go" whose daunting beat no doubt got head nods in the studio. "You Know This Shit" has a throwback vintage sound worthy of Jay-Z and rhymes that keep it real. If fans have any doubt where Mike Rod is headed they only need to sample "I Think I Need A Spaceship" which has a stellar sound that files on the road to positivity.
Delivering head-spinning wordplay with a topical range noteworthy to the underground but still understood by the mainstream, Mike Rod is a lyricist making major waves in the rap game. Surely a new artist on the rise, it won't be long before he will really need a spaceship.
