What is a live performance with Modern Gold like?
It's a good time, that's for sure. Watching the energy on stage between 5 incredibly talented individuals is itself fun to watch, but hearing what they do with the music makes it into so much more. If you've never seen a Modern Gold performance, I highly recommend it. ;)
We are a Rock/Blues/Soul Band from St. Louis, MO.
In the winter of 2016 Andy and Mikey came together from a previous music project to form the basis of Modern Gold. With a small handful of slightly crafted song ideas, they branched out for other musicians.
As our search began Andy spotted a YouTube video of Avi singing All I Could Do Was Cry (Church Bells) by Etta James, and instantly knew she was key ingredient. He reached out to her, only to find out that she would be traveling the world singing on a cruise ship for the next year. But Andy and Mikey were not put off by this news. Instead they vowed that while she was away they would assemble the best talent St. Louis had offer, and create a band worthy of her talents. Find a Singer: Done.
Next on their list was a Lead Guitarist, but not just any Lead Guitarist would do. Time after time people who played guitar would come to an audition and give us their best, but sadly their best wouldn't do. All of a sudden Ethan descends from the heavens and bestows upon the band his talent for silky smooth goodness with a solid piece of wood between his legs. Find a Lead Guitarist: Done.
But who would carry that low-end? Who would ride the waves of grooviness along Mikey as they lay down that phat funky beat? For that, Andy and Mikey had to turn to the cream of the crop. Fresh out of Nashville comes Danny, and he's come here to rock. Find a Bass Player: Done.
With the players in place and new music seemingly un-ending, Modern Gold is to be considered a serious player in the St. Louis rock scene.
Modern Gold is...
Andy Binder - Guitar / Vocals
One of the original founders of the band and group frontman Andy Binder is a key to the music genius that comes out of Modern Gold. Andy is a story-teller, spinning words and phrases into ideas and emotions.
Avianna Acid - Vocals
Lead Singer for the band and by far the best looking, Avi brings her incredible wealth of knowledge in song-writing and stage presence to the band, making her crucial to the sound.
Ethan Knoebel - Lead Guitar
With an energy that could rival a supernova, Ethan brings out the parts in the song that no-one knew were there. Creating complex original riffs that pair nicely to the melody of the song, Ethan is an incredibly valuable addition to the band.
Danny Helfin - Bass Guitar
Standing in at over 6 foot 3, Danny towers over the other members of the band, and in doing so, demands a presence that only someone of his talent can. This carries into his music nicely, as he ebs and flows smoothly with the groove, riding the pocket and knowing just what to play in the song.
Mikey - Drums
The other half of the original founders of the group, behind those shades Mikey focuses solely on the groove, and making the music the best that it possibly can be. An award winning St. Louis drummer, without Mikey there would be no Modern Gold.
Additional Booking Notes
1. Ethan (Lead Guitar) uses a 2-amp setup, utilizing different sounds between the two simultaneously.
