The Mid-Atlantic Contemporary Ballet Company was founded in 2008 with the intention of enriching the lives of community members and the artistic development of its dancers through contemporary and classical dance. Based out of and directly serving the community of Pittsburgh, PA our organization was created in the name of artistic freedom and gives professional opportunities to its Artistic Directors, Choreographers and Dancers. Our intention is to give opportunities to our Artists to enhance their skills and develop their creative talents. This will expose the Pittsburgh community to artistic works and creativity that its members otherwise would not get the opportunity to experience. The community members gain exposure to the Mid-Atlantic Contemporary Ballet’s artistic development through public performances at various venues.
As a small, contemporary ballet company, Mac Ballet can perform in most venues that are or can be appropriate for dance. Depending upon the venue and what is asked of the company, Mac Ballet performs classical pieces and variations as well as original works choreographed by their directors and other choreographers.
Additional Booking Notes
Mid-Atlantic Contemporary Ballet does not travel with a stage floor or sub-floor. For the safety of our dancers we prefer a ballroom type floor. We cannot allow our dancers to perform on concrete or carpet. We will advise our clients on the best flooring to provide for the performance(s). Our ideal space requirements are 25x30, but we have performed in smaller spaces. Since our pieces are small and compact and easy to tour, our touring pieces only require modest lighting which most venues already possess.
Mac Ballet selects it's programming based on the number of dancers needed, the size of the venue and space, and the duration of the program.

Influences & Inspiration
The company's style has been influenced by such companies as Joffrey Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem and New York City Ballet. It is our intention to mold Mid-Atlantic Contemporary Ballet into a company that is as diverse dance wise and ethnicity wise as the companies mentioned above.
