Now you can bring "Frank" to your event and relive a bygone era with the look, the voice and the musical stylings of Michael Sonata. As a professional actor and singer for over 30 years, Michael spent months researching, observing, and rehearsing his one-man act. And since it opened, his "Tribute to Frank" has received rave reviews everywhere he goes. (Some folks even think that he is lip-syncing to the original recordings!)
This is not just another "Rat Pack" guy. He becomes "The Sultan of Swoon". He dresses like him, walks like him, talks like him.
But most of all he sings like him. And the music he sings - those fabulous songs from the Great American Songbook.
We hired Michael to perform at our daughter's wedding at an outdoor venue (Ault Park) and I couldn't have been more pleased. It was about 98 degrees that day and Michael was such a gentleman, a pro and a good sport about the weather. He never complained and his voice is phenomenal! I had several guests ask me about him and compliment his performance. He quietly stole the show - in a good way!
Michael was professional and willing to do whatever it took throughout the whole process. Aside from his obvious singing skills, Michael worked with me in advance to plan out his surprise entrance, a custom song list, and when the event time came, he really worked the crowd. His performance got people up out of their seats, dancing, singing along and laughing. NOTE: He really does sound just like Sinatra and one of our friends even commented, "this is a show I'd pay to see again!"
Response from Michael Sonata:
Thank you so much Liza. Looked like everyone was enjoying your party and grooving to Frankie!
Michael was a perfect fit for my event at a retirement home he had everybody singing and clapping and kept us all amazed the entire time sounded just like Frank Sinatra and look the part also will definitely use him again
Thank you Michael Sonata for coming to our client appreciation dinner on Friday, February 17. Everyone who attended enjoyed hearing you sing and it was nice to see people dancing. Would highly recommend you.

What a fantastic entertainment at Atwood Yacht Club, Saturday, December 3, 2016. You would have thought "Old Blue Eyes" himself was in the building. Great music with the talented Michael Sonata. Humor, mingling, and a walk down memory lane! Can't wait to hear him again! Truly , a great event for all ages! Thanks Michael!
Response from Michael Sonata:
Thanks so much for the review Jeanine. What a fun evening. Have a very merry Christmas and a healthy, prosperous 2017!
Michael Sonata entertained us at our Parents' 50th Wedding Anniversary party. His voice was so "spot on" it sounded like we had Spotify on a Frank Sinatra station. We got so many complements on the entertainment. He was also a pleasure to work with through months of planning.
Response from Michael Sonata:
Thank you Michael. What a fun evening with a great family. Thanks again for the Gig and your review. Please keep me in mind for other occasions where you your family, friends or colleagues might want Frankie to be in the house. Blessings to you and yours!
I picked Michael Sonata because of the quality of his singing and performances shown in his bio videos. I had somewhat of an unusual request involving a performance for a very small group in a professional office setting. I also asked that he stop to pickup flowers and cupcakes which I had custom ordered for the event, and that he deliver a card which I had sent him in advance, and he not only did so but he arrived a little early to make sure everything was setup in the meeting room. His communications were very professional, he did everything that I asked him to do, and he was very pleasant and flexible to work with. I wasn't there to see his performance in person but the audience told me that he did a wonderful job, and he asked some of the folks to take a few photos and a video, however I have not found a way to obtain those items yet. We are definitely considering him for a much larger event in the near future.
Response from Michael Sonata:
Thanks for your wonderful review Bob. I'm glad that all went well and I hope it was everything that you had wanted and expected. It was nice working with you.
Michael Sonata was so accommodating and the comments from attendees have all been extremely positive. Many have requested a return engagement. Seeing the joy on our resident's faces as he was singing was thrilling. Spectacular evening for our little town and they're still talking about it.
We hired Michael to sing during our reception dinner. We were going for an elegant event and - aside from the bride - Michael was the crown jewel. He has an amazing voice and provides additional color in between songs. He sang to his own tracks that were played by a separate DJ company (for after dinner dancing). Michael was always professional and collaborated well with all vendors and other event items. I would recommend him for anyone looking to spice up their reception with some music from ol' blue eyes.
Mr. Sonata was professional and easily reached. Put on a wonderful show for my nursing home residents and was reasonably priced. He brings and sets up all his own equipment. Was very gracious and accommodating. Highly recommend for Sinatra fans and others who expect a quality performance
Michael Sonata did a WONDERFUL job at our St. Columbkille's Ladies Guild event 'Afternoon in Rome'. He sounded like 'Old Blue Eyes'. He was interactive with the audience and everyone of all ages loved him. Thank you for a wonderful job and I'm sure we will keep you in mind for one of our future events!
What a great guy and what a great performer. I hired Mr. Sonota for my grandmother's 80th birthday party and he was a big hit. He made a surprise entrance, sang all of the songs just like Frank, and also played the part. If you hire you will not be sorry.
Actor and singer, Michael Sonata, was born and raised in Canton, Ohio. The eldest of seven children, Michael graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School and went on to earn a Business Management Degree from the University of Notre Dame and a Master’s Degree in Speech from Kent State University. Throughout his educational life, he was always involved in various aspects of performance by participating in plays, choirs, and the University of Notre Dame Glee Club where he traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe.
After school, Michael pursued acting professionally, working in theaters in Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, and Chicago for about seven years. He eventually came back to the Canton area to work in his family’s lumber and construction business. He made the Canton Players’ Guild his home theater base and was seen in many leading dramatic, comedic, and musical roles including the Guild’s annual rendition of A Christmas Carol.
In 2004, Michael decided to make a career change and to go back into the performing arts for a living. He auditioned for a role in a local murder-mystery play called The Contraltos by Jan H. Kennedy. Being a spoof of the hit HBO series The Sopranos, it called for a character loosely based on the “Chairman of the Board” himself. Frank was the boyhood friend of Tony Contralto, who happened to be the mob boss of Miami.
Michael’s preparation for that role led him to reinvestigate Sinatra’s music and unique style of singing. And with weeks of research, meticulous observation and rehearsal, he came up with a very life-like recreation of “Old Blue Eyes” himself. Audiences wondered aloud if Michael was really singing or merely lip-syncing to Sinatra’s classics.
After the show closed, a local music producer suggested that he should expand his repertoire of Sinatra and work up a one-man show to take around to local venues. And after a couple of months of more intense rehearsal, research and preparation, Michael’s Tribute to Frank opened to amazed and very appreciative audiences. His shows reflect a wide range of Sinatra moods: the young innocence of The Columbia years, his swinging revival of The Capitol years, and the supreme confidence of the Chairman during The Reprise years.
Michael’s repertoire now includes over 100 songs that Sinatra recorded with more being added all the time. This helps to keep the show fresh and also allows him to often take requests from the audience.
Michael still resides in Canton with his lovely bride Lisa and dog Rudy. Their love and support mean all the world to him.
