Have as much fun as possible and let the audience come along for the ride. Entertainment is meant to help people relax, laugh and feel better about themselves.
Involve as many people from the audience as possible and do it in a non-threatening way. During my show, no one will ever be embarrassed. This is an intelligent program. It was created to make people think while allowing them to have fun.
I present a clean "G" rated, family oriented show. this is not a night/comedy club act. IF YOU WANT THAT TYPE OF PERFORMER ( a drunk act), BOOK SOMEONE ELSE. There is not any profanity or blue material used in my show ever. I office a 100% Money Back Guarantee, on that promise.
I want to amaze my audience, but equally important, I want to give them a sense of wonder at the mental abilities we all possess.
I live in College Station, Texas, the home of Texas A&M University and the George Bush Presidential Library. College Station is centrally located in Texas. It is an hour and a half drive from Houston and Austin and a three hour drive from San Antonio, Dallas and Fort Worth. I have an Associates Degree from Blinn Junior College in Real Estate Management and a Bachelors Degree in Sociology from the University of Colorado located in Pueblo, Colorado.
I started doing stand up entertainment in my hometown of Houston, Texas in 1974 at the age of 13. I have performed in libraries, school carnivals, boy scout banquets and private parties. For many years as an adult, I have mixed my love of performing memory and psychological demonstrations with my primary profession of real estate sales and management with an emphasis on Financial, Credit, Budget and Mortgage counseling. The "How to buy a Home" workshops that I presented turned into a combination of how to repair your credit along with how to use mnemonics and psychology to help you obtain a mortgage.
Today my show is a mix of Psychological, Persuasion, Communications, Advanced Math Calculations, Elements of Reading Body Language, Mnemonics/Memory, and pure perception, which is combined will leave a very powerful impression on the audience. The show is about 75% memory and mnemonics demonstrations. I leaned mnemonics back in the 1970's and have been using it very successfully in business and in teaching financial seminars.
I truly enjoy what I do and my enthusiasm is obvious in my performances.
Lighting: If you have house lights, keep them on. I need to be able to see my audience and they need to be able to see me. I cannot and do not use stage or spot lights in a dark room.
Sound: Everyone needs to be able to hear me. If there are more than 50 people in the audience, I will need a microphone and you will have to provide it. The microphone must be the type that clips to the lapel of my jacket, so that I can move around freely and have the use of both of my hands. It must be cordless/wireless, so that I can move throughout the audience. A headset is also acceptable. I regret that the "Lavalier" type mike with a sling that is around the neck at chest level, is not practical.
Staging: I need to be able to get to the audience, and some of them will need to be able to get to me. I prefer not to be on stage, most of my show is done out int he middle of the audiences sitting area. Ground level or a small platform or riser will do. I do not use a lectern or a podium. If people are behind me or the sides, they will not get a very good show, but this is not a problem in terms of the routines that I perform. Anyone sitting at the head table should be asked to come down and join the audience before my show begins.
On the platform/riser, I need 2 folding chairs next to a microphone in a stand. The standing microphone is my back up if the cordless that I am wearing goes out. I need two bottles of water, one on each chair.
I do not work from any written notes. My entire presentation is memorized using mnemonics, as you would expect.
Let me read your mind 3 times...
1. You want a good mix, balancing fun and laughs with more thought provoking material.
2. You want something "a bit different". Nobody does what I do, in the way that I do it.
3. You want an entertainer you can count on, without any last minute delays.
House lights on, No stage or spot lights, a lapel microphone to clip on jacket for sound and ease of movement.
