Guitarist Marc Malsegna, currently age 23, is a performer, composer, recording artist, and is an accomplished violinist based in NYC. Currently Marc is subbing On Broadway in New York City for the School of Rock show, performing original music around the city.
Marc was born and raised in Rochester, New York and started his musical endeavors on the violin at age 10. He quickly took to the guitar shortly after starting studies on the violin; he continued to study both guitar and violin all throughout his high school career. He studied privately on the violin and guitar at the Eastman School of Music giving him training in classical music and jazz. Ever since age 10, Marc has played guitar in Jazz Ensembles up through his senior year, he played guitar and violin in musical theatre productions and held the Concert Master position in his High School Orchestra. When Marc was 12 years old, he took 1st place in a guitar playing competition called the Gibson Shred Fest. Later when he was 15 years old, he received the opportunity to open up for legendary guitar player Jennifer Batton (Michael Jackson) at a local venue in Rochester, NY. Marc was part of a successful local pop band called "Clearly From Negligence" which gave him the opportunity to release a full length album, perform at all the major venues/festivals in Rochester NY, perform at the NAMM show in 2011 as one of the top ten teen bands in the country, and perform on local television/radio networks. Marc's vast range of experiences make him a very unique instrumentalist with capabilities to play and adapt to many different musical situations.
In Marc's senior year of High School, he auditioned and received the North American Tour scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston Massachusetts starting in the Fall of 2013. Marc has had the opportunity work with and study privately with renowned teachers such as Hal Crook, Mick Goodrick, George Garzone, Tiger Okoshi, Rick Peckham and more. Marc has had the opportunity to play with many different people on recitals and shows for the college, including playing guitar in Berklee's singer showcase in the Berklee Performance center. Marc has also led his own concerts at Berklee playing original music with his own group. In the spring of 2015, Marc received The John Laporta Scholarship award for outstanding achievement as a performer at Berklee.
Marc has spent his past his past summers playing Guitar in Sandusky Ohio as a contracted performer for Cedar Fair Entertainment. He has played in a Bluegrass band and a pop/rock cover band playing 6 shows a day, 6 days a week. In total, Marc has played over 500 shows which really allowed him to hone his skills as a performer. Most recently Marc played lead guitar for the national touring production of Rockin Road To Dublin performing in venues/theaters all around the country. Rockin Road to Dublin is an award winning show that fuses Irish rock music with Irish dancing
